we was told the rum puncheon would be a great place for mothers day lunch, so we booked.
firstly the staff was miserable and not very helpfull. the service was very poor as some of our guest had eaten
their starters before the rest was serve theirs, also for the price the food was only o'k. and lastly the wine we had with the lunch was not only corked but had a large amount of sediment in the glass, and they had the cheek to charge us for it, needless to say our partie of friends and family will not be going back. even if they   offered a free lunch (which they didn't) we would not  go back.

I've been to the Rum Puncheon several times, mainly for lunch on Saturdays, but I also recommended it for some visitors from Australia a couple of months ago when they were searching for a lunch venue in Gravesend for a family group - they were suitably impressed, especially with the lovely balcony setting overlooking the River Thames.  Everytime I have visited, the food has been of such a high quality, clearly freshly cooked, which makes such a pleasant change from the usual microwaved 'pub grub' available elsewhere in the town.  The staff are pleasant and friendly, decor and surroundings beautiful - I would like to visit one evening to see if the atmosphere is as welcoming - well done to the landlord/lady and all the staff.

Really nice and beautifully decorated pub in gravesend. Have a wide selection of largers and ales, and do really nice tapas on a Monday! They have a really lovely new outside area now that overlooks the Thames and has once again been done to an exceptionally high standard.
The bad thing about this place is the atmosphere, it’s non existent. Great for a drink in the summer with your other half, but avoid if you want to have fun.

This pub came like a breath of fresh air to Gravesend. Decor, ambience, selection of beers, wines and interesting chiller drinks all contribute to a great experience. A good selection of menu choices and snacks add to this, as do the garden and terrace in the summer and the open fire in the winter. But the thing that makes this place extra special? Mel, Sue, Lauren, Ronnie and the other members of staff. This is a great place to relax.

This is a very classy place and would fit right in in an upper-class area of London. There is no TV, fruit machine, or jukebox (huh?), just nice jazz, classical and rock/pop standards playing softly in the background. The dress code is not formal (huh? again), but the clientele does tend to be well-dressed young professionals, not riff-raff. An excellent selection of real ales and wine. Lovely decor, nice loos, an open fire on cold nights, and tables overlooking the Thames outside in the back. Haven't tried the food yet, but it's probably first-class -- everything else is!

This is such a good pub, it’s clean, it’s nicely decorated, it serves fantastic food at reasonable prices and it has really friendly enthusiastic staff. I think this is the best place to eat lunch in Gravesend, they offer a small selection of freshly cooked meals, the menus changes daily (although always feature omelettes and sandwiches). I have never had a bad choice and have to admit I eat here at least twice a month and have bought family and friends to eat here too. They also serve various different beers.
