Lal Qila

Yet another lovely meal there last night, any food left was because we were so full. Service was friendly as usual.

Gorgeous food served here, both take away and sit down. Recommend.

Always appaling customer service, based entirley on greed.

Too many times we have booked tables days/weeks in advance only to be asked "can you come back in an hour". Then when you return, "can you come back later?" in a tone which sounds like they're doing us a favour to come back later?? We booked the table!!!! You gave us the time!!!

They even tried to serve our meals in the waiting area.

Every single time we've been, without fail, they have rushed us through all courses of our meal - regardless how busy they are just so they have your money in the till.

Can't fault the food - really really nice - always a nice meal. Without exception. But so terribly let down by the absolutely appalling, dreadful, customer service ever.

Literally - I WILL NEVER, EVER, EVER GO BACK HERE AGAIN!!!!!!

I have visited this restaurant many times and over many years and have always felt the food is under rated. My only criticism is that they are extremely naive customer service.

We recently visted and during the visit there was a power cut. The restaurant was so obsessed with getting your money that they really forgot that you also as a paying customer was being inconvencied too. Once they got that they made no secret that they want you out. Leaving us sitting in almost co,plete darkness extinguishing all the candles - we hadn't even finsished eating. I have sadly felt this attitude on a number of occasions.

I can't fault the food but I think the place should be established enough now to provide better customer service than they do. I have a number of Indian retseraunts that I frequent that I rate above average which on food this could compete. However Lal Quila is well below average on customer service. Sorry.

Definitely not a pretentious venue for curry, but there is bold décor

I like Lal Qila a lot. Definitely not a pretentious venue for curry, the bold décor (both on the inside and out) lends itself to a relaxed a fun atmosphere. The service mirrors the décor you may be pleased to hear. The food on offer is tasty, pretty much the standard affair that is available throughout Rusholme. I always go for the prawn madras, but don’t let my recommendation limit your horizons. By all means, try the chicken or the lamb. The grill is also something I might recommend. One area that I might be slightly critical of is the allocation of sweets on the bill saucer. The last time I was there, I received one lollypop and two mints. The argument that ensued over who would get what was epic, although played out in the style of a Harold Pinter-esque tip. But don’t let that worry you too much, go to Lal Qila and enjoy the food.

This Indian restaurant is another secret gem. I haven't tasted curries like Lal Quila curries. I was introduced to this restaurant by a close friend and have since used it regularly since as I enjoy their curries so much. Whenever you collect a takeaway order its always packed with families and couples enjoying a decent indian meal. I would recommend this to everyone, even you can't eat spicy things like myself as they make a delicous chicken korma!
