Nice atmosphere and very good service. The food comes in two different ways. First you help yourself to the buffet which is actually very nice, afterwards the waiters will come with the meat. I thought the meat was not of the best quality which is why I am only giving three stars. If the quality of the meat was better it would be a five star rating. Other than that it was a very friendly and welcoming place.

We were very excited to go here as we’d been to similar places in Portugal.
The cocktails were good and the food from middle table - the salads and hot plated food was good. However the main part, the meat on sticks have a distinct flavour that leaves a taste in your mouth of a gas nature, although its meant to be cooked in charcoal.
The decor is ok, but has a cheap look to it.

Overall not impressed

Went on a stag do out in Manchester to this restaurant and if you’re a fan of meat, then this is definitely the place for you.

If you take the buffet option (which we did) then you’re initially invited up to fill your plate at the salad bar, and then afterwards you have what is essentially a conveyor belt of waiters coming over to your table with skewers of fantastic and tasty meats and plonking them on your plate.

There is a simple double sided card system which lets the waiter know if you want more food, or your body is screaming “no more meat, please!”. This is done by turning over the green side of the card if you want food, or flipping it over to red if the power of speech has left you as it did me after eating many sausages, steak, chops, lamb, beef, chicken, pork or any other tasty meats you care to think of.

You may find yourself taking out a gym membership after you’ve been to Pau Brazil, but if this much quality food is shoved under your nose, then you’d be rude not to eat it!

Pau Brasil is a novel restaurant on the edge of the northern quarter. You pay a fee of about £22, help yourself to the extensive salad bar and then waiters come round to the tables with various barbecued meats on skewers. You have a red paddle and a green paddle. Red means that you don’t want any more meat and green means go, go go! They bring you sausages, lamb, marinated chicken, beef skirt, steak and roasted pineapple, which is lovely! The salads are great too, there are many dishes to choose from and it’s all freshly prepared. Mind you don’t get the meatsweats!

A different way of eating - delicious barbecued meats keep arriving at the table until you have to stop because you can’t eat any more. There’s a buffet from which you can help yourself to side dishes, which include hot meat and fish dishes, potatoes, rice, etc as well as salads, and a waiter keeps going round the tables with skewers each of which has on it a big chunk of meat from which he carves slices onto your plate. The meats were all very lean and tender and included sirloin steak, rump steak, pork loin, chicken wings, etc. The meat is marinated and seasoned and hence very tasty but generally this is quite simple food.
When I asked which dishes were gluten-free, the waiter was helpful and checked with the chef but they don’t seem to understand gluten-free - they weren’t sure whether I could have the pasta salad because they didn’t know if the dressing would be suitable! However I was fine afterwards and because a lot of the dishes are simply cooked I was happy that I could tell what I was eating and make my own decisions.

Pau Brasil is an authentic Brazilian churrascaria offering a wide selection of meat grilled on a skewer and carved and served at the table. Meats on offer include chilli chicken, lamb, sirloin steak and sausages.

Eat as much as you can for a flat fee - the restaurant offers a wide range of salads and hot dishes at the buffet bar. Turn the disc on your table from red to green to indicate to the waiters that you’d like them to carve some meat. Service is attentive and friendly, and the restaurant offers great value for money.

The restaurant is very busy at weekends so reservations are a good idea even if there’s only two of you. Even during the week I would suggest calling ahead as on a couple of occasions during the week we were unable to get a table.

I guess I cant say enough good things about this place. After lots of reccomendations from friends we decided to give this place a go. If you didnt book a table in advance it could be a bit of a wait. However you could still be seated at the bar and enjoy a drink while you wait. The drinks are a bit pricey though.
The staffs are really friendly and more than happy to explain the menu. It is a fixed price menu £20 (drinks not included) but I can ensure you its worth every penny. Try not having anything to eat the whole day if you are planning on going to Pau Brazil for dinner! If you are a vegetarian then this is not the place for you. There are some salads on the buffet menu but I advice you not to fill your stomach with those. Wait for the meat!
Once you are at your table, are ready to be served with some meat, simply flip the red card at the side of your plate to green to signal the waiter. The choice of meats are fantastic and I would recommend the sausage and lamb. The are grilled to an absolute perfection and very very jiucy. The brazilian waiters were very good too and kept coming to us asking if he could serve more. We ate till our stomachs nearly popped.

We had a great time and will definitely be going back.

Pau Brasil is a restaurant that I have found both unique and fun to eat at in Manchester. I had never eaten at a place like this before, I had heard good things about it from friend so I went here with a group of 3 friends and had an amazing meal. This restaurant is a Brazilin steak house that offers customer a great deal of choice when it comes to the meat. Previously I had been to a steak house in Texas, USA before so I was quite excited about a similar prospect in Manchester.

Perhaps one of the best things about Pau Brazil is the fact that offer a fixed price menu so you can eat as much as you like. When I was there I opted for the beef as did two of my friend and we all agreed it was perfect. If you don't like beef then there were various other meats and even fish. You can sit back and watch the staff cut the meat and offer it to you, its a nice change from waiting for your meal to appear in front of you. The fact that the meat is carved at your table was a big bonus for me although beware if you are anything like me your eyes are bigger than you belly I tried to cram my plate as full as possible.

All the staff were exceptionally professional, the were polite, all smiled and were constantly on hand. We went on an evening and i think it was about £19-£20 for each of our meals but that was well worth it when you consider the choice cuts of meal that you are offered, considering this was a saturday night I think the price was quite reasonable. As well as having a good meal the evening was quite entertaining. If you have never been to a steak house before I would definitely recommend this one
