This shop is a must for true chocolate lovers (at least those with reasonably deep wallets). I used to work around the corner, and the occasional visit here was a real treat - and I’m not normally that turned on by chocolate.

The emphasis is on very, very high quality hand-made chocolate products as a luxury, almost gastronomic, experience: this is not the place for chocolate bunnies or other such novelties. The chocolate products here have been made with very fine selected cocoa, described as you would wine, with distinctive flavours and ‘notes’ in terms of its aroma and taste. If you have never experienced chocolate like this before, it’s something of a revelation (although potentially a dangerously expensive habit to acquire!).

The presentation is generally very restrained, adding to the feel of quality and exclusiveness - there are caskets, hampers and wooden boxes as well as more traditional presentation boxes. The one exception is a heart-shaped box for the ultimate statement of commitment!

All this quality comes at a price, so be prepared to dig deep. Prices start from around £5.95 for a basic 250g bar, up to £65 for the 1.2kg Luxury Casket. For £8.50 you can have a 350g box of drinking chocolate - and here that means flakes of pure dark chocolate, with 70% cocoa solids, not powder.

There are quite a lot of options around the £20 mark for smaller boxes, including chocolate stem ginger at £18, or £22.50 for a 280g box of Grand Cru Truffles, which come in Dark, Milk, Champagne, Raspberry, and Malt Whisky flavours (or a mixture of all five). They also do boxes especially designed to round off the perfect dinner party, from £12.95 to £43.50. The shelf life of some products is limited to around 3 weeks.

Needless to say, the products would make the perfect gift for the discerning chocolate lover, for a dinner party or as a special gesture to your loved ones.

Wonderful little chocolate shop with a wonderous array of delights, I am a huge fan of their chocolate browlies with chunks of chocolate in them. The cookies with chocolate caviar were delectible and the chocolates themselves lush.

I’m a fan of the french style of chocolate with the thin chocolate shell and distinctive inside flavours so this is pure heaven for me.

Their truffles are lush and I often take them home with me to Canada to treat my family.

While not inexpensive, you are paying for the high quality of the chocolates you get.

Be aware that these high quality chocolates have a short shelf life so opt for a smaller box more frequently :)

This a quaint little chocolate shop in the heart of Belgravia with an innovative selection of chocolates. Amongst the best are the famous Grand Cru truffles and I also thoughly enjoyed the rich but refreshing taste of the Green Tea flavoured truffles.

As usual, I sat down to sample a cup of thier hot chocolate. I opted for thier Mayan style hot chocolate which is blended with spices like cinnamon to enhance the flavour. It was very tasty and the best I've had in London so far but it still doesn't beat my benchmark of the Chocolate Boutique in Auckland. Chocolates at The Chocolate Society are expensive but worth it if you want to sample out of the ordinary flavours.
