I first discovered Cybercandy online at www.cybercandy.co.uk and it took me a while to actually realise they had a real, physical shop just a few miles away from my office in the West End.

My waistline and my teeth have not been the same since that fateful day, but let me tell you I am a happier, more content and definitely more hyperactive human being thanks to this discovery.

First things first: don’t go to Cybercandy to browse.

Browse sweets, are you kidding?

You will regress to the age of about 8 or 9 once you enter the door and (if you’re anything like me) you will just start grabbing handfuls of stuff just because it looks colourful or has the word NEW! on the front. This is proper impulse buying.

Cybercandy isn’t a retro sweetshop though, don’t go expecting cola cubes or Pear Drops. This is a ‘weird’ sweetshop i.e. confectionery you don’t normally find in this country. So there’s plenty of American treats like Hershey and Twinkies and weird flavoured M&Ms that you can’t normally get over here (peanut butter, dark chocolate….mmm).

Then there’s the Asian varieties, and this is where it gets seriously weird. Pitiful Dog is (as far as I can make out) a Japanese canine character who gets into horrible situations such as getting his head caught in a tyre. And they’ve based a line of sweets around him which contain a little plastic model of this poor dog in a sad situation. No one else in the office is going to have a ‘pitiful dog’ toy on their desk. Be the first!

As well as sweets they have great drinks in the fridge: Blak Cola (basically coffee flavoured, rocket fuel, coke), Cherry Diet Dr Pepper etc. And even classic US cereals like Cap’n Crunch and Fruit Loops.

The whole place is like an Aladdin’s Cave for sugar junkies. My favourites? Well I’m a bit of a licorice addict so I love Hershey’s Good and Plenty and I’m a big fan of the admittedly plasticy Strawberry Twizzlers.

It’s not exactly cheap here, they import all the stuff so you’re paying a bit extra just to be able to get this stuff on these shores but I would say a a monthly… ok maybe fortnightly treat, it’s absolutely worth a fiver… ok maybe a tenner, of anyone’s money.

Just don’t come crying to me when you’ve made yourself sick.

I love Cyber Candy! I first discovered it while I was in a serious sugar phase. They had all the sugar I was jonesing for from home (Canada)

I’m also a huge Japanese candy fan. Nothing says LOVE like a gift of poprocks candy floss and POCKY!

Anytime I’m feeling down and missing my home, a quick browse around Cyber Candy and a Canadian chocolate bar later I’m feeling good again.

American candy selection is massive but they also include Canadian candy - they so rock!

I suggest carefully selecting a budget both to spend and consume. You can literally make yourself sick on the candy! Pick a rate at which you expect to consume and purchase carefully.

Go to this shop - online or in the flesh - and just enjoy!

Like a Japanese school boy's wet dream. Candy to keep you powered up for endless nights of Nintendo gameplay.

Upon entering the shop, sugar craved customers are greeted with assistants who appear as though they've been at the sweet stuff all day - boundless energy, a smile as wide as a Pinky bar and bubblegum pink hair.

The store stocks enough variety of exotic candies to both satisfy the curiosities of adventurous chocolate eaters and to temporarily cure the homesickness of ex-pats from Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada and Japan. There are even a few South African offerings too. The store stocks chocolate bars, sweets, bubblegum and a selection of beverages.

Although a relatively small floorspace (yet blindingly bright), this Aladdin's cave of candy is a unique treasure hidden amongst abundant clothes shops on Garrick Street. For your Wunderbars, Pinky's, Hershey's, Pocky, Cinnamon Tridents, A&W Root Beer or anything else your ex-pat heart desires this is well worth a visit...or two!

This candy store is THE place to get hold of all those sweeties, lollies and candy you've heard of all your life and then some.

Walking in is like, well being a kid in a candy store. There are just so many sweets to choose from. American, Chinese, Australian, South African and just about every other country's candy makes it to their shelves.

There are also special collector items - limited ranges and stuff you'd buy just because it looks cool. A good place to get a present for your kids or a friend who has a sweet tooth.

Cybercandy ia very small shop of the main square in covent garden.
A amazing selection of candies and sweets but i feel some may be slightly overpriced e.g. £1.75 for a packet of skitlles usually 45p but there are always amazing flavours and varietis you've never seen in any newsagent which makes up for it!

This is a lifesaver of a place. It's the perfect place to shop for gifts; especially for people you don't know, as a novelty bag of candy always goes down a treat.

The staff are friendly and will look stuff up for you and order in. They can recommend what tastes good too, since they've sampled much of the stock!

I particularly recommend the caffienated energy sweets and everything with Hello Kitty! stamped on it. Amongst other things they stock: Twinkies, Mountain Dew, Jelly Belly, Hersheys, Mentos and Tab.

Also, look out for the range of candy with insects inside, including chocolate covered ants; snake vodka; weasel coffee; and scorpion lollipops.
