I’ve often walked past the Soho Pizzeria and thought it looked like a good time. So before a gig we had in Soho one night we thought we’d step in a have a pizza.

We walked in, after a few minutes we were sat uncomfotably close to another table - it wasn’t actually another table, it was a 4 person table that another couple were already sitting at - even their stuff was left on our side. I was very tempted to put on the sunglasses they left on my placemat.

We laughed at this situation, and keep trying to have embarrasing conversations because the proximity to two strangers trying to enjoy a romantic meal was pretty funny.

We stopped laughing when 15 minutes had passed and we hadn’t even been given menus yet. A further 10 minutes passed and we got up and left.

To be ignored for nearly 30 minutes is simply terrible, terrible service.

We went round the corner and got a take-away from Pizza Express - a million times faster and cheaper too.

This is one restaurant in the west end you can be sure to get good food at, whether you eat-in or takeaway. The staff are friendly and most nights they have musicians playing to accompany your meal. They are mainly pizza orientated, hence the name, but if a pizza doesn’t fill you up they do a lovely creamy vegetarian pasta perfect with dough balls. Once you’ve been, you’ll definitely go back again and again.

This pizzeria at the bottom of Carnaby Street looks like it should be a tourist trap, with it's neon sign and prime location off Regent St. Even once you've sat down and you can hear the slightly cheesy live jazz being played, you're still not expecting much.
But these aren't your average Pizza Express pizzas - I have hosted a few parties and dinners here and the always unanimous consensus is that these are superb pizzas. Sure, they're a little bit small, but they aren't very expensive and the waitresses are good at keeping the beers coming. You can even have starters, pizza and a few beers each and still leave with change from £20/person, which is pretty good for this part of town. Highly recommended.
