My favourite shop in Edinburgh. I bought a fabulous blue dress in here and it makes me feel like Alice in Wonderland. The zip was broken, but the dress was cheaper because of it so I didn’t mind too much. This is vintage shopping at its best.

It really is fun to shop in here. They actually put the dresses in order of length which is a clever way of doing it - you can find exactly what you’re looking for. The stuff here is very good quality and it’s pretty good value.

Next time I’m back in Edinburgh I’ll pop in but make sure I take a litle bit more money with me - there was loads of stuff that I wanted to buy!

The ultimate vintage store! Do not go into this shop without money or you will leave crying. They have everything from a trilby to a feather boa and from a snakeskin skirt to a fluffy jacket. This store can please the eccentric, the high fashion lover down to the plain conservative. Luckily most things in this being second hand have a very low price. This is a good place to head if you just want something that little bit different from what the high street can offer.

If you like retro cloths, crazy wigs and top hats, Armstrong’s is for you. Boasting a massive range of cloths and paraphernalia from many areas, you can walk in looking sane and for a couple of quid walk out looking just about however you want. A large range of jackets, coats and suits are on offer, along with period dresses, hats, boots, gloves… although some prices may seem a little steep, there is no chance you’ll get a full length leather lady’s ruby-red coat for £20 anywhere else. It’s rather a lot of fun, and don’t plan on being in and out in ten minutes.

Fulfilling the vintage needs and passions of Edinburgh’s fashionistas, Armstrongs is a gem of a second hand shop in all its glory. Everything from mohair jumpers to cutsie sparkly party tops and sheepskin jackets to suede belts, driving gloves and jumpsuits.
Eclectic, vital and bursting with character, Armstrongs is sure to bring out the boho/grunge/disco gal/guy in us all! A tad costly but just how can you put a price on a traffic-stopping look? A must for any shopping excursion in Scotland’s capital
