Compliment
slowdog (27-11-2007)
The other branch of the Croydon institution serving freshly-made flatbread rolls. It's smaller than the other place, with no tables, although you can sit at the bars looking out at Croydon's locals...
There's normally someone on bread-making duty and you can watch them making the fresh dough and flattening it out before putting into the special bread oven/grills, while you wait for your own roll to be cooked. Due to the place being a bit smaller and less busy, the staff tend to be a bit chattier too, and you feel less under pressure to make your order.
My particular favourite filling is the juicy prawn, spinach and cheese, although the Mexican chicken is a good choice, too. The pizzas are based on the same, lovely bread dough, but a bit more unwieldy to eat than the rolled sarnies.
