HORRIBLE VIOLENT THIEVES
A friend had received great service and product from Camden Interiors a few years ago. It was on this reference that I entered the shop and asked for a bespoke dining table and bench.
30 Sept 2012- Visited the shop and was helpfully shown around by eager shop assistant J***. Was told I needed to pay 50% by noon the following day to guarantee delivery by end of November (I was hosting a Thanksgiving dinner). J*** gave me his mobile number and said I should ring him to arrange payment. Rang J*** the next day and he said he wasn't working and acted annoyed that I'd rung him. I reminded him that he told me to and he changed tone and said I could just call the shop if I was going to pay by card. I rang the main shop and paid 50% on my visa debit card.
Mid November - Rang to see if we were on schedule. Was told I'd receive a call back. Tried again the following day. Was told I'd receive a call back. Tried again the following day... No call back. No delivery. Borrowed tables for thanksgiving dinner...
Early December - Rang and asked what happened and when I could expect delivery. Insisted on an answer. J*** said the floods up North destroyed all their suppliers stock. I explained that my delivery had been due well before the floods. J*** then said there were people waiting for their purchases a long longer than I (since the summer) but he'd call me back when he found out. I said that was totally inexcusable when he insisted I pay within 24 hours for guaranteed delivery. J*** called me stupid and hung up on me. I then wrote an email on their website (which went no where, no doubt) complaining about J***'s behaviour. Received no response. I rang back the following day and got J*** again. He apologised and said the owner would call me back with a delivery estimate. No one called me back.
Mid December - Visited shop with husband and 4 year old daughter to try and find out what was going on. Josh was there and said told the owner would ring me back that day. I asked when the owner was coming back and was told in about 30 minutes. We came back in 30 minutes. No owner. J*** was there dealing with another angry customer who had been chasing her goods. My husband piped in and said, 'It's not just you waiting' and J*** lunged across the counter and threatened my husband saying, 'If we were up north you'd be dead by now'. My husband quickly took my 4 year old out and rang the police. We have a complaint on file.
We've had a bout of illnesses so let this rest for a while. Was about to complete the form the Visa fraud team sent me when a friend said she'd heard they'd gone bust. Rang the old number and an incredibly nice woman answered saying they'd taken over from those who had mismanaged the business, weren't taking any new orders and were honouring the old. I was thrilled. She said she'd email me back by the end of the week with a delivery time estimate.
No email. And now they're not answering the phone. Clearly another scam.
I hope visa gives us our money back. The only saving grace is we didn't give them cash.

All the positove reviews that you will read are fake. I replied to many of them and always the same person was answering. The truth is, this place has defaulted and has stolen a lot of money to customers. They might have changed name and trade under a different name, but they might not have changed their habits. Why would you risk?

Excellent furniture shop by far better than any leading furniture shop out there has loads of funky quirky one off pieces new and of old reclaimed solid wood. i spent 2k in store on a few pieces i just fell in love with got a great deal to and got delivery the same day i highly recommend this shop keep up the good work. High end furniture same or next day delivery at very reasonable prices what more can i say.

Wow!!! really shocked to see the previous comments!!! I'm a banker (don't judge) from Germany and I just moved to London so I purchased some beautiful furniture from Camden Interiors... I can't honestly understand what must be going wrong for some people. I received the goods on time with no problem at all. I wanted to come on here to share my good experiences with what I thought would be more happy customers but it seems like it isn't the case.
Anyway I will still give my four stars to the guys because I'm really happy with what I received. Not a problem with delivery. The guy that came to deliver was lovely and advised me on using the right wax for the reclaimed bookcase which is a great part of my flat.
Please don't think I'm gloating about my experience compared to the others.

I ordered an item for my lounge 2 months ago. I paid a deposit and was told that I would receive a call within a fortnight when the item was ready to collect. After a month, I called to find out what was happening and was told I would get a call back. This never happened. I called on three other occasions over the past month and even went into the store. On each occasion was told the manager would call me to tell me when the item would arrive. Nothing.
This is by far the worst service I have ever received. Completely unprofessional.
I would not recommend Camden Interiors to anybody.

Do not go here. As one reviewer below says, it's daylight robbery. I don't mean the prices - it's not cheap but it's real wood, so you pay for it. I mean the fact that you pay the whole price as a 'deposit' and then they never contact you. When you contact them, they tell you 'we'll call back', and then don't. I've paid them £1,000. I've got nothing to show for it. And they won't call me or tell me when the furniture might be delivered. I've called more than 10 times (a considerable chore given it's very hard to get through to them). and They have no information at all.
I seriously think it's a scam, because I just can't believe it's possible to still be in business if this is the level of incompetence.

Wow this place is amazing i recently got me and my wife a new bed walking around the shop i was like a kid in a candy store, so much original furniture i like the fact that most of it is made to your own specification so you have the comfort of knowing you are not going to walk in to some ones house and see your item it is totaly original.
Had great sales man and they cam and built the bed in my house it is solid and me and my wife love it, i have to be honest my wife recently redecorated our room i phoned the shop and spoke to the manager who very kindly arranged for his finishers to come and collect and restain our bed to match my wifes new colour code i have to say she was over the moon.
I would definitely recommend this Aladdin cave to friends.

THEY RIPPED ME OFF. I paid a deposit of 50% total cost of chest of drawers and agreed to pay the rest when I returned to collect them (with a friend who had a car). When I came back - the chest of drawers were broken so they said that they would order another one and would be ready for collection in a week..............

i heard you got your money back and they gave you extra so how are they ripping you off if anything after i heard the messages you left i would have called the police on you and not even given you a penny back and till you learnt some manners i think you should get some help or a man to relax you people like you need to get a life in fact you only paid a depoist not even in full and your still bitching the company pay for there items in full and have to wait for suppliers you ripped them of as they gave you more money back so i think you should stay of the crack .

I only let this go on for so long as I really couldn’t believe it and it wasn’t until a friend told me to look at all the appalling reviews about how you rip customers off – that I realized it was a scam.

Yes! But I think that at this point in time we should also contact police and inform them on what is happening. The other possibility is organising to meet all together on Saturday morning in front of the shop and inform a friend that I have in the press so that a nice little article will pbe published the day after. Additionally (last but not least) the piece of furniture I have ordered is available in the shop, so I could also decide to walk in with some friends and take what is already mine and walk out! What would they do, call police? And I have the recepit anyway…

I have been waiting far too long for my furniture and now wonder whether I will ever receive it. Do not buy from this company. What a scandal.

LulaMM, 31 January 2013:If you read the other reviews you can get your money back. Call your credit card or debit card company and ask for a chargeback. I gaurentee you will get it as these cowboys have multiple complaints on them. I got my money finally – don;t give up hope! Good luck.

this company is not a scandal its just hard times for everyone .dont you watch the news and see whats going on in the world . if it was a scandal the shop would not be there for 25 years i live round here and the last thing i wont is another shop to go and the high street is full of pound shops and shoe shops and bars and the complaints they have is not alot for 25 years .it just shows you that it is hard out there.

This company is committing daylight robbery as far as I concerned taking large deposits (hundreds of pounds from me) for made to measure furniture giving indications it will be delivered within 6-8 weeks, and repeatedly failing to deliver as these reviews show. The staff are rude, unhelpful and make false promises about delivery dates. They also refuse to make refunds saying they can’t because the furniture has been manufactured but then repeatedly saying that as there is a problem with the supplier it will be a few more weeks. If that is the case, how can they justify continuing to sell that same furniture to other innocent customers and highlight it on their website? They should stop playing the “poor us we are stuck in the middle line” and “oh but you are getting a quality product”. This wears a bit thin when you have not received your order weeks after it was promised to you andwendy haven’t even called or emailed to apologise or let you know what is happening. I am furious about how I have been treated.

i have bought from this shop several times and the service has been good thats my experince and i do buy and sell houses for a living so do understand when your in the middle .its hard keep up the good work

TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, NO GOOD, VERY BAD SERVICE. THE WORST. Now that I've got your attention I'll tell you our sob story. My boyfriend + I were buying furniture for our first flat together and wandered in here and thought, "this place is cute". We ordered a custom table + leather sofa and were told that they'd both be delivered in 6-8 weeks.
That was in June. IT IS NOW DECEMBER and we're still sitting on the floor of our flat eating off of a coffee table because for EVERY F**KING week for the past 24 weeks, they keep saying, "It's coming. It's coming." And it never does.
Today, they finally called and said, "We need to stop stringing you along. It's not coming." And they offered us a refund (it will be hilarious out of character if they actually refund us).
It's now 2 weeks to Christmas and we have no where for our family to sit when the come to visit us.
These people are liars + borderline thieves. I hope they go out of business.

Avoid this shop. Ordered Camden Plank kingsize bed and mattress, they were not delivered. The original delivery date was 2 weeks after the payment date - after that passed I visited and telephoned Camden Interiors numerous times to be told the items will be delivered the following day or following week and this was never honored. Went through Visa and got the £559 back on my card but it took about 15 weeks as Visa had a backlog of issues. They told me others had complained about the store too. Staff: Luca, Mike and the boss will make you feel confident but they lie, get aggressive, fall of the radar and all in all, fail to keep their word. I was so scared as I paid the whole balance up front but happy I got it all back. Wish I had read the review on here and AllAboutLondon before I visited the shop. Do not go to this shop. Cowboys.

i heard that camdeninteriors lent you a mattress that was worth 400 pounds as you was waiting in the mean time you rang the credit card company to get your money back which you did . but no mattress back as you said you throw away .so lets get this right you got your money back and kept the mattress .if anything if im correct thats called theft .please let me know how you got away 999 help we have a theif

Ha ha, Adem, ‘you heard’ wrong!
- FACT: They did not deliver my kingsize bed or mattress after weeks of waiting/phoning them
- FACT: They tried to fob me off with a double mattress (not worth 400 quid eve, you have to be joking!!) as a ‘temporary measure’ until they said they could deliver my kingzise bed & mattress.
- FACT: I paid Camden Council to pick the double mattress up from my house as Camden Interiors did not pick it up. Cost my 25 quid to have it picked up by council. I even forwarded the paperwork from the council to Camden Interiors as proof!!If you just bought something from them then you are unlucky.
If, more likely, you work at Camden Interiors and you just went ahead and left this review and changed the shops contact info to 999 Camden Rd, New York, then you suck hardddddddd! I got my money back and am very very happy! :)

JakeDarlington, 31 January 2013:There has obviously been some frustration in the time that your order has took… As a professional working in the Interior design field I know from experience that furniture is a hard game. I have worked with plenty of interiors shops in the past and no, the service isn’t the same as larger corporate companies such as IKEA, JOHN LEWIS or anything like that. The FACT is that these small businesses don’t have millions to spend on customer service or the facilities to accommodate set lead times.
After reading the previous posts it looks clear that LulaMM owes the company for a loan mattress and if the shop so wished they could quite easily take LulaMM to court for that money.
As far as any arguments about lateness of delivery i think LulaMM would find the standard terms and conditions of any furniture/interiors company interesting as they usually don’t guarantee lead times and keep things approximate.
This is a subject that I have been over time after time in the past with my clients and it always comes to the same conclusion… If you want cheap below par furniture fast go to a corporate company for it. If you want above par furniture cheap, these smaller companies will provide it slower.

Ok everything you have just stated is true IF the company states that the lead times are approximate in the t’s and c’s, but they usually don’t… I was quite interested to see what this company has in their terms and conditions so i had a quick look at their website which had their lead time terms in the first paragraph and here it is…
Lead -times are offered in good faith, though as all products are subject to availability from our Suppliers, we can only give general guidance as to delivery dates. Although we do our utmost to keep customers informed of any delay, we cannot accept any liability for any delays which are beyond our reasonable control. Therefore we cannot offer compensation for any delays caused by our Suppliers.
This should pretty much clear things up… Offering something in ‘good faith’ means that to prove that the shop was being misleading to the customer, the customer would have to prove what the salesman believed to be true at the time.
The LOAN of goods is also a good will gesture and is not seen as compensation in any way shape or form.
Anyway I have a life, and find it very hard to justify helping your rant, or giving any more of my time to this conversation, as i said before I’ve had it plenty of times with clientè.

Unbelievably frustrating. I have never experienced a retail company this unorganized and unprofessional. Save yourself the pain and hassle and take your business elsewhere. My wife and I ordered a TV armoir in mid April, paid a GBP 300 deposit and was told the piece would be delivered in 4-6 weeks. After weeks of struggling to talk to anyone with authority that could provide a status and reason for delay, they finally delivered an armoir in mid July....that did not fit the space I had specifically drawn measurements for (emailed and hand-delivered to the shop). It is now September 3rd and we still have not received the armoir we ordered nearly 5 months ago. Nor have we received a phone call and/or an apology from management, rather settling for part-time staff telling us their supplier is "extremely busy" (Hint: You may want to find another supplier!) There is no sense of urgency or accountability by Camden Interiors to have this corrected or own up to having completely failed in every aspect of this transaction.

Absolute rubbish. Major delay in my case means 5 months with no proper explanation and repeated broken pledges re delivery dates. I have been into the store several times to complain and to try to get a refund to no effect. You are lucky if you can catch Atai in the shop. He seems to spend his life trying to avoid facing customers, never answering emails. they never answer the phone and if they do Atai is never in. Why is their phone not taking incoming calls at the moment and why haven’t we been given a timescale or alternative?
