BR101, Mitte, Berlin

The BR-101 was a lucky discovery: they offer a plethora of tasty cocktails, both the usual suspects as well as own creations, for unbeatable and not at all "Mitte" prices. Furthermore, some Brazilian tapas (petiscos) and nachos etc.

The BR-101 is a 4.600km long highway on the East coast of Brazil, and their own cocktails are named after towns and POIs along this highway. It's fruity and sweet in this Brazil, but you can also find coffee and cocoa-based cocktails.

Yummy cocktails here for a very nice price. I had a caipirinha (standard stuff, but very well prepared) and a "Laguna", which was a peach-vanilla cocktail which took a few sips to warm up to.

Smoking is tolerated and the nachos were stale, one star off for these.

I left quite tipsy.

Good place to go if you're looking for a good cheap cocktail, but be warned they don't observe the smoking ban.

Cheap. Cocktails. Made quickly, and with little fuss. You won’t be getting an umbrella in your drink for this kind of money, but then, when it’s dark and hailing outside, do you even want one?

The menu is extensive, with a huge section of their own creations, which are a little off-the-wall, but not at all bad. I had some whiskey-vodka brew which calmed the nerves in anticipation of meeting my hero, Andrew Bird in the Roter Salon later on.

I was happy to see a reassuring Qype sticker in the window too!

Cocktails are 3,50 Euro, they used to be 3,00.

I’m not bitter, that’s still 1 Euro less than anywhere else in the city. They are strong and delicious. So strong and delicious, you might even order some of the nachos they offer (ill-advised).

I can’t say much else besides 3,50 for giant tumblers of rum, tequila and various juices.
