5 reviews of White Bear in English
Under new ownership, its not only a great student pub but, more recently has got very popular with people who've just played sport relaxing with a few pints - especially badminton. Its very reasonable price and the atmosphere is brilliant, what ever you do though YOU MUST BUY FOOD, its the best! I particuarly like the chips!
This is a large studenty pub in Cotham. It has a nice atmosphere and is a good place for a relaxing drink. This pub also has a large beer garden in which they have barbecues in the summer.
Situated at the top of St Michaels Hill and only a stone’s throw from the University of Bristol student campus, this used to be a really popular pub that has seen a downtown in fortunes lately. Right beside an Indian takeaway of slightly dubious qualtiy, the White Bear has a lot of character as a traditional pub- very cosy and with plenty of the dark oak that can mark a place out as being ‘an old man’s pub’. There is a lovely beer garden at the back and a pool table at the front so this is a really nice place to come on a sunny day.
I was very sad when my freinds and I stopped frequenting this place!! It is a lovely pub with a great atmoshpere, reasonable prices and local to one of the best areas in Bristol. It has themed night, and a great outside are. If your near-by do stop in!
The White Bear is a Cotham institution: a big pub that is a popular haunt with many Bristol University students since the pub is on the doorstep of the university campus. Drinks and crisps are cheap, and if you can bear the smell of stale beer, this pub would be a good choice for relaxing after lectures.
