Only ever been for a drink on two occasions and never stayed for more than one…smart bar, sophisticated and nice atmosphere in a great setting at the top of Park Street. Would recommend this to anyone visiting Bristol…a bit of a gem!
I have mixed feelings about this place - great location for people watching in the summer and no doubt a stunning building.
The drinks menu offers a wide selection of choice and with all signature cocktails priced at £3.50 Mon-Thurs you can't go wrong..
However I've never been amazed by the service, it's obviously a busy place but a few smiles & a bit of customer tlc could make a vast improvement.
The foods okay - I wouldn't choose to go there for dinner but it's perfectly good if you're looking for a drink with a few bar snacks.
Very nice place to go for a drink with friends.
But the food can sometimes be good sometimes be bad. Bit of a gamble.
Very nice decor and great place to sit outside in the summer sunshine.
What a fantastic building! Very grand indeed - pillars, tall mirrors, incredibly high ceilings, marble and mahogany. This is a great place to have dinner. The food is good (but not great). I’d recommend coming here for a quick beer or cocktail and a nibble before you go out.
Brown’s is a bit of a Bristol University institution, so expect lots of University students (the main campus is only 200m away).

Amazing building, good food and good service. I’ve been a few times having some dinner or just for a drink and the place has never dissapoint me.
A great place - love it! Browns is located in clifton. It is a good place to have a few drinks on a night out, and they also serve great food - you have to booka table in advance as it gets busy in Browns!
I frequently visit Browns with family for a meal or with freinds. If you want to eat there it is normally quite busy and advisable to book a table in advance. It can be quite busy going there for drinks on a Friday/saturday night too!!
I like Browns to visit for a pint after or duing a shopping trip in town or Parkstreet. Good in the summer as there is plenty of seating outside where you can watch the shoppers go by whilst relaxing with a very expesive pint of lager.
I took my girlfriend here for our first proper date. The service is good and the high cceilling and architecture makes it a very unique place in Bristol.
The food is defiantely over-priced, but I guess you pay for
the atmosphere and to hang around the place.
Browns in Clifton is one of my favorite bars to visit. They have a selection of nice cocktails to try, so a great place to start an evening. Browns also serve food, but it is popular, so booking a table in advance is advisable. The times i have visted Browns is has appeared popular and busy but not overcrowded. The builiding Browns is located in has fabulos decor as well - very noticeable.
Browns is located on Queens Road in Clifton. It is a bar and brasserie and caters for all. There is a very extensive menu and they provide food all day. Food is reasonably priced and is average. Décor is quite funky but also fun aswell! The bar is often packed – especially on hot days when you can also sit outside which is great.
Avderage food but decent cocktails. Peronally think there is no atmosphere and it’s far too expensive!
Browns is just incredible. It’s like a palace inside and with the staff in traditional waiter get up (black trousers, white shirts, long aprons) you could be in a 5 star hotel in Paris. Marble, Mirrors, pot plants, brass and mahogany as far as the eye can see, with ceilings so high there’s clouds up there.
It comes acorss as quite snobbish but if you want to really enjoy it. I highly recommend you put on either a tuxedo or as much tweed as is legal when you come here and pretend to be lord or lady of where ever. Just live it up.
In the summer the place to be is right here sat outside looking out on Queens road, the Triangle and down Park street. This is the perfect perch to watch people go by and enjoy a drink.
The beers are extensive but very much european, there’s also cocktails, afternoon teas and coffie. It really is like a setting for jeeves and wooster and you’ve been transported back to the 1920’s.
The food is not as expensive as the decor might suggest but neither is the quality, it’s good food and a little bit different from your standard bar or pub. It isn’t five star luxury though.
If you want to raise your solcial status by a couple of notches, if only for an hour or two then come here.
Browns looks really elegant and grand at the top of Park Street it has tables and steps outside that are always packed with rich uni students posing and spending Daddy’s money.
I have eaten there a couple of times and the food wasn’t too bad but not the best I have ever tasted and it was pretty pricey too as you would expect from Browns.
Browns- it’s a bit of a Bristol University institution, but that’s only because it’s incredibly pricey and very posh. It’s frequented by the richest and poshest of students. I have only been there once and that was when I wasn’t paying! Browns is absolutely packed on a sunny day with the ‘It Crowd’ hanging out and drinking cocktails- people even spill out onto the steps to drink there. The food is good but does is it worth the price- I’m not so sure.
Don't even consider going here if you are at the end-of-the-month-penny-counting stage as you won't enjoy a mouthful of anything you have...thinking about the price tag. But if you fancy a treat, spoiling a friend, going on a date, or earn enough for this to be your local, etc., this is a great option. The sun-trap steps are packed during the Summer and even on the coldest of days you will find people sitting outside (they have heating) watching the world go by on Park Street (apparently this is a favourite 'Cliftonites' pastime). That aside, it is a really special setting with lavish gothic architecture in keeping with Clifton chic.
The menu is a gastronomic delight and it is also great to see a venue being a little more experimental/exclusive with their choice of beers on tap. Our treat is a 'A Most Unusual Afternoon Tea' which involves Hendrick's g&t (infused with slice of lime of course), scones with Devonshire cream jam, cake, cucumber & cream cheese / smoked salmon crustless sandwiches all presented on a tiered platter - how civilised!
Browns has a reputation for not being cheap. This is not your typical pub that smells stuffy. Instead it is a posh and slick bar that also morphs into a restaurant. It is a nice place to go out for drinks with friends without being over-crowded that is typical in most bars and pubs. Key thing to remember here is dress appropriately!
