Hunters Meet

Absolutely love this place, but could do with a little tweaking, as it gets older.

Have been visiting this place since it was refurbished in a traditional style about 20 years ago and subsequently stayed in the hotel that was added about 16 years ago, in fact I stayed there on my wedding night and every anniversary since.

The owner is very much a people person and usually around which I feel is an important thing and makes the experience much more homely, rather than feeling that you’re just another customer. He’s also hilarious.

All the staff are friendly and welcoming and nothing is too much trouble.

There is a lovely garden to wander through, a swimming pool, gym, sauna and beauty lodge attached and all good quality and clean.

I’ve only ever had one bad starter, but it was mainly because I didn’t like my choice.

The bar is a little pricey, but if you want just a jug of iced water with your meal, they don’t charge for this, unlike some places!

The main meal is served with a large platter of seasonal vegetables so you can have as much or as little as you want.

The hotel is comfy and homely and you can either have breakfast in your room or in the restaurant, I would recommend in the restaurant as there’s a choice of cereals as well as a full english.

One thing I would like to see changed is the provision of tea/coffee in the rooms, there’s never enough milk or sugar and whilst you can ask for more which they don’t mind in the slightest, I feel I shouldn’t need to.

There is a hairdryer provided, a trouser press, extra pillows and blankets in the wardrobe, a tv and a fan for warmer days.

The shower is a bit worn now, but if you have a power shower at home, nothing else will suffice really.

There is a covered smoking area just outside the conservatory area which has a tv in, so you can relax after your meal and watch tv, just like being at home!

The whole atmosphere here is very relaxed, friendly and homely, but good value for money and definitely worth a visit. They also hold themed nights and these are good fun too, but check the meal price and need for reservation beforehand.
