I used to love coming in to Davidoff's, just to have a Cuban cigar. They seem to have the best selection for cigar and cigarette lighters and cigar related products, and also Fox umbrellas. I bought once bought my first Dunhill lighter from here.
This is the place to go if you want to buy a cigar and require either a vast selection or expert advice (or both). If you need advice on choosing your cigar, be prepared to be peppered with questions by one of the charismatic owners (a father-son team), only to be presented with a selection of cigars that will best suit your smoking requirments. And they are happy for you to come back and give some feedback on your smoking experience in order to further tailor their suggestions.

Okay. I think Davidoff is my top choice for stogie shopping in London. I say think because it's a tough choice, as I learned on the Cities in Sound hosted Qype cigar walk:

But what gives Davidoff the slight edge is its accessibility. Shopping here is a breeze. Regardless of your budget and whether or not you're a bona fide aficionado or a newbie who's never puffed a cigar before, you'll be treated right and steered correctly toward the best option for you taste, experience and price range. Just ask.
This St James's institution (especially with its walk-in humidor) is lovely and worth a gander even if you don't smoke. Davidoff's selection of cigars and tobacco products is second to none in Central London.

I had the great pleasure of stopping by the shop during the London Cigar Walk Qype event hosted by Cities In Sound. I'm not a cigar smoker, but it made no difference. Edward and Eddy, the father/son team, who run the shop are incredibly charming and wonderful hosts. They explained all sorts of things about cigars and made everyone feel at ease. The scrummy Paul Roget champagne they served was a nice and welcome touch.

If you're anything like me then you love the idea of a cheeky cigar every now and then. For those times there is only one place to go: Davidoff.
Edward and Eddy (a father and son team) run this unique tobacconist and it is well worth a visit. Ask for them by name to get a personal tour through their well stocked humidor. The service is beyond impressive. Not pretentious in any way Davidoff will help you find what you're looking for.

I don’t like this shop because the staff is very rude. Especially the YOUNG STAFF who work there don’t know what the words “thank you” or “please” are, and they don’t even know how to give basic information on cigars. There are definetly better places to purchase cigars in London, where you’ll always leave the shops with a smile on your face. I will never go again to this shop.

oceanscottie, 19 December 2010:
Perhaps not quite as charming as JJ Fox’s down the road, however the shop has an equally large array of fine cigars and tobacco. That said they do not sell loose pipe tobacco. They do however, offer a large selection of umbrellas and canes, enough to suit the tastes of any discerning gentlemen or lady of taste.

I know, I know. Smoking is bad. But if you ever feel like visiting a tobacconist, Davidoff's of London is the place to go. Situated in between Green Park & Picadilly tube station (just by The Ritz), going in this shop is like stepping back in time. Everybody that works here is over 60. They use phrases like "ripping good show" and i'm pretty sure they still close the shop for elevenses. Free matchsticks with every purchase and kind, formal service from the gents in the shop. This place is very, very British. A wonderful shop for smokers or just for people looking for a slice of the old guard.

alissandra, 17 January 2008: Davidoffs make just the best cigarettes. If you're going to self-destruct you may as well do it with panache. An old flame always used to beg me to get them for him at the duty free-they cost a bomb.

I’ll have to go, if only for the “ripping good show” style speaking, fantastic :)
