This is such an amazing market! Loads of stalls run by friendly people selling incredible produce from all around Europe and further afield. The whole place smells of beautiful food and you can eat your way around great market stalls as well as getting produce for home. I recommend the Italian coffee stand (amazing cappuccino), also the guy who sells lamb bratwurst. Great cheese and meat stands. If you've ever been to Borough Market in London, this place has a similar vibe but is (a) much cheaper (b) much less crowded (c) less touristy and (d) more delicious!
There are many great markets in Berlin but this is by far one of the best ones. You can find great items like silk scarves for 10 Euros or wooden bowls, hats, jewelry, and purses. I was very impressed to see that you can buy fresh pressed flax seed oil, delicious. Of course, there are lots of fresh vegetables and fruits but also snacks like blinis and churros. Great place to try new foods and spend the afternoon.
So good! we stumbled across this market while exploring the area around our holiday rental apartment in Berlin. The prices were good and there was an interesting mix of food and the usual handbags, jewelery and arty goods. We stocked up on bread, cheese and a log of apple strudel which kept us going for a while. Surrounding the market is a variety of restaurants which are also quite nice.
So many places to eat, so little time and stomach space. We enjoyed the zucchini fritters we’d heard a lot about and one other item from that guy. I was sorry to pass up some of those huge cakes around the market but my piece of nectarine tart was only so-so as was the crepe. But the smoked fish smelled great and I’m sure we would have found other delicious items.
This is by far one of the premier farmer's markets in Berlin. The produce, meat and bakery are top notch. What a wonderful place to spend a Saturday morning or early afternoon. Arrive hungry, as you can eat your way through the market.
