Incredibly random place that is becoming very cool. Has come under the management of the Muldoons who used to run the Hackney Empire. Has nights that range from Gramsci Night (on Monday) to Comedy (on Saturdays). Also a range of music from Senegalese singing to jazz. Looks like nothing special but manages through its eclectic entertainment to be unmissable. Go have a look! Different nights cost from nothing to £10.50 for the Comedy.

The Cock Tavern has recently reopened and I presume it's under new management.
I used to walk past The Cock Tavern with its massive windows looking in to the solitary drinkers sunk in sofas, cheap (so I am told) and always guaranteed a seat, kind of depressing I suppose. Now they appear to have food served with candles and.....wait for it... table cloths!!!
They are holding comedy nights now with Arthur Smith's "Cut-Price Comedy" on saturdays and other nights with equally recognisable names, and a new acts night on Tuesdays (most importantly FREE). Sundays sees a "Music Hall" night - and whatever that may entail.
I used to be too intimidated to go into the place mainly because it look like the deep-buttoned leather sofas appeared to be the expanded psoriatic livers of former regulars... Now I'm too intimidated to go in because I suspect it'll be quite pricey.
Not actually remotely "helpful" as a review ...more a confession of cowardice.
Just thought I'd bring up a venue which seems potentially interesting and worth cheking out.... if not interesting in the kind of direction most boozers in Kilburn are going in.
