Good, professional, no-nonsense service. We found them reliable and helpful. They didn't try to get our business (selling a house) by giving us an inflated estimate of the value. They have links with local solicitors which can make selling simpler and cheaper.

I have the greatest pleasure in recommending the services of Chancellors estate agents. The support offered from the Oxford branch at the bottom of Divinity Rd. both by Joe Worsell and - throughout the process - by Paul Chapman-Brown - left me and my sister, as joint attorneys for our mother, confident that while they were organising the sale of the house we could get on with all the other matters that we had to attend to in everyday life. For a firm such as Chancellors which amounts to a major combine in the region, it was re-assuring to find that there was a very personal touch and also a sense of continuity: we were not dealing with strangers when we entrusted the property with Chancellors. After all, our mother had made the acquaintance of Chancellors' Joe Worsell when she had the house valued by Chancellors some years previous (long before she moved into the nursing home). And in the closing days of the process, when the house had been cleared and the new buyers were due to take possession before very long, there was support in the form of a cup of tea and and an uplifting chat for me – focussing on all the positives! - from Chancellors’ Paul Chapman-Brown on a day when I was finding it emotionally difficult to see our old family home clean, yes, but echoing and empty as I went around tidying up the last little bits and pieces and making the garden a welcoming sight: although I was pleased that the house was going to a buyer sympathetic with the character of this old 1900s villa. Support, then, from Chancellors in the form of both practical matters (such as Paul's resourceful posting of a notice on the inside of the back door to remind anyone helping with the clearing-out to leave all doors safely locked - since natural worriers such as myself occasionally fretted about security problems in the dead period between the exchange of contracts and completion) AND with providing just a helpful word such as "we are almost there, Sir!" to ease my jitters and nerves. Moving house is an emotionally difficult time for some people. Having lost a treasured relative, we also need to say good-bye to the treasured home where we shared so much. Need to say good-bye to a place now devoid of just about everything but spare fuses and the torch under the stairs. Chancellors' network and system of promotion had been successful in finding exactly the right buyer for the old place, and this must be a cause of congratulation to Chancellors on their methods and also a cause for us as the sellers to rejoice in the successful transaction achieved by their most capable staff, most notably Mr Joe Worsell and Mr Paul Chapman-Brown. Nevertheless with the rejoicing there also went a little sorrow at having to part company with a place that had been in the family for nearly 50 years. Consequently it was all the more thoughtful of Paul & Joe to provide my sister and me each with a memento in the form of a folding A3 colour photo brochure of the house as it was when it first went on the market, still replete with all the indoor & outdoor furniture and all of the other little trappings and fittings that will give us an enduring reminder of Mother's house. For me, that personal touch sums up the experience of working with a large and well-organised firm that also employs sensitive and considerate staff at the interface with the public. Thanks Joe and Paul - job well done. Warmest regards, a 100% satisfied customer.

I just recently have used Chancellors to rent an apartment. Their agent Julian Dando (rental) has been of great help and made all the official work simple and clear. But is a bit early for me to say more about the property as I have been there for only a few days. Till now everything is looks fine.

We recently used Chancellors for the sale of our property and were impressed with the excellent offer they achieved on our property.  Despite having to ultimately pull out of the sale due to unforeseen circumstances, we were very impressed by the level of service provided to us by the East Oxford Chancellors team and would not hesitate to instruct them again in the future.

Generally pleased with the level of service, communication and very good feedback after each viewing from the East Oxford Office.  We put our place on the market before Christmas and in tough economic times, December and early Jan 2012 was dead and Jo, Ravi and Paul remained positive and helped us change our selling price in line with what the market demanded.  One very positive bounus of employing Chancellors was their relationship and collaboration with their other branches because we bought from Chancellors in Abingdon.  When we had an offer we managed to sell and buy in the same day and Jo supported with the deal at both ends.  If you are reading this remember we are in a recession and you need to think about what you will take for your house but the positive is you can get a good deal at the other end if you are up sizing like us.  We would use Chancellors again.

Put house on market feb 2012 got a sale within 6wks at £2500 under asking price, unfortunately due to personal circumstances had to remove property from the market. during the whole process from start ro finish i had nothing but the best service both selling and looking for a house. I had many viewings and had honest feedback on every viewing. I never once had to chase up the agents regarding anything. Paul from the Cowley branch, the agent i had most dealings with, gave outstanding service. Every member of the team was polite and helpful at all times. If i ever consider selling in the future there is no doubt that i will be selling through Chancellors. I have had dealings with other estate agents in the past and the experience was awful. Well done Chancellors and thankyou for all your help! Maria and Lee.

I really enjoyed dealing with Chancellors from start to finish. Everything from the initial meeting with the Sales Agent and the valuation of my property to having very professionally brochures done. I was kept updated throughout the whole process, and even though i had to take my property off the market due to personal circumstances, i have no doubt that once I’m ready to put it back on the market, i will be doing so with Chancellors. I was very satisfied with this agency and would recommend them to anyone thinking to buy or sell their property in East Oxford.
Many Thanks to you guys..

Excellent sales team in Chancellors in Cowley. I was a first time buyer and they were happy to talk me through the process clearly. I cannot fault them for their service – I found the agent extremely helpful, transparent and keen to get a smooth sale through. I had dealt with other estate agents when buying and had found they did not have the same knowledge and were not as helpful.

Terrible, horrible and positively the worst bunch of people to work with. Their sales teams will promise you the earth and not deliver on anything. They can be extremely rude and difficult to deal with. If you are selling I would highly recommend you stay well clear of this bunch they simply don’t have a clue!! Wish I could have given them no stars!!

If you are a buyer avoid Chancellors Cowley Road like the plague. They are only interested in working on behalf of the vendor and gave us alot of misleading information along the way during our house purchase. A very unpleasant experience!!! Have made a formal complaint.

Take a chance with Chancellors.
Difficult to deal with from beginning to end when buying our first home. A quote from the Associate Director: "we act on behalf of the seller not the buyer". They were only interested in the commisson from the sale and not in open honest service. Some issues with them below included: 1. Misleading information about the state of services to the property 2. Misleading information about the tenancy/occupancy of the property. 3. Failure to perform due diligence in checking the vendors claims. 5. Failure to provide requested documentation in a timely fashion. 6. Failure to ensure that the property was cleaned prior to completion as agreed in writing. 7. Misleading us into believing that this had been done, both verbally and in writing. 8. Refusing to accept responsibility for this and not responding to the opportunity to have it 9. cleaned. 10. Failure to provide a full set of keys to the property at handover.

Chancellors is a well to do housing agent - this one on the cowley road. They find housing for both students and professionals in the oxford district. There are numerous other chancellors for instance the one in headington.

This agent is alike to all the others in terms of house selection, fees, deposits etc...but i have marked chancellors (who i rented with once for a year) lower than their neighbouring premier lettings, because of the staff.

I do not know why but the staff were always slightly pretentious in this location. They speak snottily and look down upon students. They expect forms to be completed in a matter of minutes and do not give you alot of time to get referee details/ deposit amounts together.

They also took a very long time to get someone out to fix things or look at things in the house. And its worth saying that even though the house i rented was left near perfect - me and my friends saw a small amount of our deposit back...and we were not the only ones.

Of course, Chancellors may have changed in the last two years...but i doubt it. Go to Premier.
