I took my little sister to Angelina for some of their famous hot chocolate, a personal favourite of mine. We had a lovely time and it was made even better by the fact that the waitstaff was so courteous (not the most common experience in French cafes!). A clearly very busy waitress tripped and accidentally got some whipped cream on me (which I didn't mind in the slightest... some people even prefer that sort of thing ;-) ) and she made it up to us by bringing us two free pastries!
Angelina is a tourist trap in the sense that every Paris tourist knows they need to go there but it has none of the overpriced, low quality, poor service traits you might associate with a tourist attraction. Angelina shouldn't be missed.
Dropped into Angeline on a recent trip to Paris to try some of their famous hot chocolate. Unfortunately I didn't have time to enjoy it in their gorgeous (if a little formal) dining room, so I took a peek at the patisserie section of the cafe instead.
As well as fiddly and beautiful little cakes, they sell boxes of tea, chocolates and other foodie things perfect for stocking fillers. But I was there for the gloopy hot chocolate which they sell in bottles for a hefty 9.20EUR. You'll easily get four servings out of a bottle once you reheat it at home and add a drop of milk, so I didn't feel too short-changed.
Looking forward to coming back here and spending more time with a cup of something chocolatey.
AgatheThePower You definitely have to try a Montblanc with your hot Chocolat next time! It's amazing, probably the best pastry I've ever had!!

I’ve finally tasted the “African”! Rich and voluptuous, indeed! Try it with the even more famous “Mont Blanc” and then, off you go touring in Paris by walk. However when you pay almost 30€ for 2 pastries and 2 hot chocolates, you expect a spotless service well, not there! It really bothers me seeing stains on employees’ uniforms or seeing a shop assistant pulling up her skirt just before grabbing cakes and laying them on a tray. Ladies no longer have manners! I can’t wait for Pierre Hervé to open his tearoom!
This is the place for the best hot chocolate I have ever had.
Very thick and rich… don’t make the mistake to order the other house special Mont Blanc cake made of whipped cream and chestnuts cream!
Unless you have been fasting for the past week.
Yum

a very chic and very expensive salon de thé,!
tastes of Africa exude from the famous hot chocolate… (one could almost call it a chocolate fondue), and the Mont Blanc (a cake made largely from crème de marrons), these are the two house specials…
the rest is also very delicious
If only I could buy their hot chocolate mail order - I dream about their hot chocolate, a love affair of over 20 years!!! Please Angelina - make it available, Paris is a long way to go for a drink.
An absolute MUST when visiting Paris,
The very beautiful contribution of Qyper Zuja actually any longer much is not to be added, however it forgot nevertheless somewhat to the steeped in tradition Tisch No. 12. As member Proust and Coco Chanel fan club I attach nevertheless particular importance on that.
This seems to be a pretty famous tea shop. It certainly is popular. You often have to wait at the door behind four or five parties of clients before you get in. But that’s underneath a covered sidewalk and the wait is usually not long. There are many tables inside and they turn over fast enough.
The inside is decorated in light colors with some gilt - fancy enough to make you feel underdressed if you’re in jeans. But about half the clientel will be as well and the host won’t turn you back at the door or even sneer in passing, lol, so no worries. The decor is definitely enjoyable and sets the stage for the upscale food on the menu.
Watch out - the hot chocolate is VERY rich. Take that into consideration when choosing a pastry to go along with it. Everything that I’ve tried there so far has been wonderful. On my first visit, I was there for lunch and had a sandwich, which was very good. The hot chocolates are among the best I’ve ever tasted.
Prices are high, but reasonably so for the quality of food you get. There is also a counter near the door where you can buy their products to go - bags of hot chocolate powder, teas, chocolates, etc.
A word to the clausterphobic: they do cram clients into every available square inch of space. The tabletops are tiny and they have them set close together. Taking off your coat can be tricky. If you like your personal space (and a quieter dining experience) you may want to try somewhere less popular.
Taste the best hot chocolate in your life and take it with a french bakery which so good as a sweety
