Review of White Horse from 15 October 2011

We wanted to order food and were ignored for a good half hour. When it did come, it was pretty mediocre and presented sloppily. There was quite an agressive doorman who kept growling at us ‘wait your turn’ while we waited outside for there to be a table. Generally, not a good evening.

Review of White Horse from 4 October 2011

My five star rating is entirely down to one thing with this pub, the selection of beers. I am an Ale girl and am always interested in trying a completely new one. This pub has the best and biggest selection on tap and in bottles i have ever seen. The food is average and very pricey so dont bother with that and the clientele (except me of course!!) is repulsive (i was the only one there that wasn’t wearing tweed and doesnt own a 4 by 4) but its worth going to simply to try and get through all the ales on offer!!

Review of White Horse from 18 February 2011

Went here the other night with friends and and I really liked it! Was too busy to eat (should have booked really) but the food looked great. I'm going to book next time and hopefully the sun will be out so we can eat outside!

Review of White Horse from 11 July 2010

I don't mind the sloaney clientele here. It is Fulham after all. What do you expect? My own particular problems stem from the mediocre food, which would have been acceptable for a chain pub like this if they hadn't priced everything as if it were a restaurant. The beer is good, I hear, but to be honest beer isn't my thing so I am not the best judge. The staff seemed to be in a state of distress and service was slow and grumpy. This famous pub does not get the Hungry Gibbon's seal of approval.

Review of White Horse from 1 July 2010

I was at this pub yesterday and they have an impressive selection of beers on bottle. The beer in tap isn't so impressive though. The pub is nice and spacious. Everything was fine until I wanted to order food. First they were 2 waitresses coming really fast and wanting to take our orders. We had just sat down and wanted to look at the menu first. Then we were ready ordering nobody came to our table and then I went to the bar one of the barmaids said tableservice only. And then a little later I asked one of the waitresses that we were ready to order and she promised to come straight away. That didn't happen instead she started with other things behind the bar. Me and my friend gave up and left. A good pub with the beer. It could have got 4 stars, but the slow service makes them lose one star.

Review of White Horse from 17 April 2010

I think this is the first review I've ever written whilst still on the premises...

When you get a nice spacious, airy room filled with magnificent beers from around the world, and then put a bunch of friendly staff behind the bar, you're on the way to having a sure-fire winner. If a review were simply about the pub, rather than the experience one has whilst there, then this'd be a safe hit into 5-star country.

Am going to have to mark it down a star though because of the frustration involved in going along on a sunny Saturday. Firstly, it fills up really quickly, and it's a completely personal bias, but it fills up with the types that I wouldn't usually be sharing a pub with. Probably the worst aspect of this is the rude encroachment and the increasing shouting, until your nice "meeting a friend for a beer" at your table turns into a cramped screaming match.

The bar staff were very helpful, but in places unnecessarily bureaucratic - we arrived at 11:45 and wanted to order breakfast and run a tab. Firstly the barmaid had to go & ask whether they started serving at 11 or 12, then she said that we could only order via table service, and then that we had to order food to start a tab. Given that it was the same girl who eventually came to our table (and how at the time there was nobody else there), I can't see why she couldn't have just taken our order & started our tab.

But that nonsense aside - The White Horse is a lovely environment, and has a nothing short of spectacular range of beers (Continental & American beers, as well as well-maintained Real Ales). The food's nice & not overpriced, and if you could time your visit on a day where there was a large horse-related carnival just outside the M25 you'd probably find it to be a very pleasant environment.

Review of White Horse from 25 November 2009

One of the best beer selections I've found in London. There are many beers on top including a variety of brown ales and stouts. They have Meantime Ales in bottles and Anchor Steam Porter - Yum.

Review of White Horse from 7 July 2009

White Horse has quite a rep with the locals and rumour has it they’re quite easy going with you tottling off to enjoy your tipple in the common. They have a huge outdoors area which gets a lot of sunshine and has mushroom heaters at night for the smokers.

They have a wide selection of beers and ales here as well as an extensive wine list and so is a good choice for any picky drinkers. Sadly they don’t offer Magners which is fair enough as there are many other options including Fruli - the fruit beer which goes hand in hand with a light Summer’s eve. Definitely a vibey place to come to but if the weather’s good (or even if it isn’t) don’t expect to find a seat.

Review of White Horse from 2 July 2009

Here’s the thing about the White Horse. I want to like it. It is right on top of my tube station, so i try and try again.
Yes the toff’s are stifling, but on the day of Chelsea matches they are swamped in blue sweaters justifiably grumbling about the cost of the BBQ.
Considering how many quality pubs are just a few minutes walk away it almost isn’t worth it for me anymore. Yay to free wifi, boo to the way they treat their staff.
I just get my drink else ware now and toddle it over to the green… less trouble all round that way .

Great pub in Summer when you can spill out onto the green. It’s a bit chocker in the Winter, and you can wait a while to be served, but a very charming London boozer all in all.

The White Horse is a fantastic pub to visit especially if you are a beer lover. The unique verity of cask ales, draught beers and over 100 bottle beers from across the globe make it a fascinating experience. Regular beer festivals are held to give people a chance to learn more about the culture and different influence that make each beer so unique. Good food and a passion for beer makes the white horse a great place to visit. I would recommend the Orval an exquisite Belgian Ale from the Trappist Monastery in Belgium. A lovely blend of Hoppy aromas and caramel with a zesty finish.

Next to Parsons Green, this is my favourite beer garden in London: really great selection of international beer (bottled and draught) and the best bbq burgers in town!

Nice location - even better ciders and beers, just the place to spend a summers (fat chance) afternoon/evening. The barbecue was a nice touch as well. As other reveiwers have mentioned it does get very busy so get there early and settle in!

Review of White Horse from 30 July 2008

Also known as the Sloaney Pony, The White Horse is probably the most popular pub in Parson’s Green. They do a great Sunday roast and the barbecue in the summer is also very nice. Lots of real ale on tap (including Black Sheep!) and plenty of organic ciders. 2 things that annoy me about The White Horse though (and this is why it only gets 3 stars)

1. The bar staff tend to be a bit slow. We were in here yesterday afternoon. 5 bar staff and about 10 people waiting to be served but still it took about 20 mins to get a drink! Training issues perhaps? Who knows….

2. The punters - this is definitely a cricket jumper round the shoulders and let’s talk about my summer house in Tuscany kind of pub. Sometimes i just find all the Toffs a bit overwhelming.

All in all it’s a decent boozer and i will go back. Nothing better than getting a pint in a plastic glass a wandering onto Parson’s Green!

dmj1962 @ rosemontjd - ah, now there we can agree.

Andrew Hunter Ha ha. Not sure i can say anything good about chavs….. and i’m pretty darn sure you would never see a burberry cap and a rottweiler in the White Horse!

A top pub with awesome ales on rotation. Definitely worth a visit when in the area, and when away from it too! I would simply avoid it when Chelsea are playing.

Review of White Horse from 7 April 2008

Always seems to be a crowd here even on weekdays from lunch on. Typical pub with a menu that is a bit more ambitious than most but still about as average. I have always liked my food and will go back but it is not a, “god I am really craving a blah from the white horse.”

Food wise, I have had sausage and mash, the sunday roast, custard tart(mildly disapointing) and the rabbit and crawdad stargazy pie. Don’t worry the crawdad head stares out of the pie not the rabbit’s.. All were nice but remember what I said a few lines ago. The best in value and taste I would say is the Sunday Roast.

They have a decent selection of beer on tap and in bottles, sell mixed drinks, wine and champagne.. oh and non alcohalic stuff too!

The downstairs can fit a good size crowd and they have tv screens, but I have never seen them play anything on them even during big events. The upstairs dining and the back room dining are cozier, quiet and away from the crowd so good for familes at most anytime. I advise prebooking for meals.

The outdoor area is large and looks upon Parsons Green. They just had it remodeled so it looks great and even have outdoor heaters everywhere… good as long as the wind isn’t blowing! It can accomodate a large crowd so maybe I am just seeing all the smokers hanging around. It will be lovely in the summer.

It is a casual place, but it has the nickname the Sloany Pony for a reason…

Review of White Horse from 3 December 2007

This place, also known as 'the sloany pony’ is all about pink shirts and loafers. However, if you live in the area it’s the perfect pub for a relaxed summer’s day Pimms. It gets so packed people spill out onto the street and the green outside opposite the road. In the summer they cook barbeques outside and the atmosphere takes on that of a big happy family. It’s also a great place to head to in the winter, with a roaring fireplace, snug warm corners and cosy big wooden benches. The food is excellent and the service impeccable but the prices are rather expensive… but you are paying for the location of a true authentic English pub!

I agree with Mark Riley. Its full of toffs and you cant hear yourself think for the sound of 'rah’. Fulham council should lock the doors from the outside and leave them all to it….perhaps throwing in a few firebombs before throwing away the keys.

Long live socialism!
