Gotta say I was quite disappointed with Broadway Market..It’s nice, don’t get me wrong, but it’s so overpriced it hurts! I mean, £1.50 for one red pepper..now I’m all for paying for organic food but please, that’s just taking the mick.
As I said, it’s still a nice market and has lots to offer if you’re willing to pay over the odds for it.
My advice is to enjoy the smells and sights the market offers, then pop into one of the shops that run along side it to get what you need. I got some really nice veg and a ton of herbs for next to nothing from one of these shops and the quality was fine!
Oh and the gallery on Broadway is ace - has work in there from an incredible photographer called flip wibbly jelly - recommended!

Don’t go hungry to Broadway Market or you will come out broke! The market is mainly a food market. The food all looks amazing, and what I’ve had is really good, but it is on the expensive side. The market is a good size so it’s not tiring to get through it, and the crowds are a lot thinner than other markets like Borough or Portobello which is nice.
I also enjoy it for the lovely cafe’s and pubs along the road where the market is. sit outside if it’s a nice day and people watch. The market is a great place to stop for a morning coffee, pick up supplies for a picnic lunch then head to the park.

When I'm feeling peckish on a Saturday afternoon, one of my favourite places to go is Broadway Market by London Fields.
It's an old fashioned looking market with an amazing array of food to eat there or takeaway to have for a picnic or take home for dinner.
The first place I head for is Ca Phe Vietnam, a retro style Saigon Street cafe. They serve a range of authentic dishes including the yummy Vietnamese five pork baguette, traditional coffees and tropical juices.
There is plenty to look at and taste, with some great live music and fun little stalls to browse (including a great little record stand where you can get some great bargain vinyl) as you are walking along eating your latest find.
With London Fields just across the road you can also take your picnic there and soak up the local atmosphere.
I can't think of a better way to spend a sunny summers Saturday afternoon!

I went to this Market for the first time today and loved it. It's a bit like Brick lane with a range of tempting food from around the world but nicer and posher. There are also a few really nice vintage shops around there and some cute cafes. It's a really nice way of spending a lazy Saturday afternoon and I would definitely recommend having the pumpkin pasta and also popping into 'la vie' shop.

I love Broadway Market simply from a photographers point of view. Love observing the sometimes rather ridiculous people on "Place m'a tu vus ?" or "Have you seen me square ?", well I HAVE seen you and taken your picture !! Good fun, and good food too....... That market really puts a smile on my face.

Great little Saturday Market and area to potter around on a lazy weekend. Range of stalls, serving delicatessen bits and pieces and also hot food stalls. Clothes and arts and crafts stalls also. Nice little pubs and shops to while away the hours in at the same time.

Like Columbia Road Market, great atmosphere made of East London arty crowd, plus very good food stalls.
I always recommend this and Columbia Market to London visitors to understand why London is so special.

I love broadway market but its getting a bit ridiculous in terms of fashionista’s. i mean, everyone looks like they’ve spent 3 hours getting ready, just to go for coffee and cake.
i diasgree with the comment that theres an ecletic mix of people. everyones the same, all try hards, wanna be cool. i wish everyone would just calm down and be more laid back and less pretentious.
it was much better before it was invaded by the hoxton crowd. parp

Broadway Market, or 'Runway Market’ as some call it due to the strict adherence to fashion shown by many of its svelte, model looking inhabitants is one of my favourite streets to hang out on right now. Detractors call it the new hoxton square, malinging it as a hub for pretentious hipsters. I by contrast am lured by it’s boutique shop laden, village-like charm. You are spoilt for choice whehere good pubs with a top quality atmosphre are concerned, from the Dove with it’s unparralelled selection of belgian beers (oh unless you go to De Hems is Soho of course, but why bother when this place is round the corner?) Off Broadway or Cau n Mutton, the grogeous french deli, La Bouche and a whole host of other delights. The best is its farmers’ market on Saturday. More pricey than Borough in some places (esp. their cuts of meat) but they make up for it with a divine outdoor Vietnamese cafe.

A great place to visit, for the market of course but mainly for the East End people who are such an ecclectic bunch and it really shows on Broadway Market. This is not a very big market and it is supposedly mostly organic. I did not check if it was but generally the food on display or available for immediate consumption, looked really great and so varied, from the French corner with tart, saucisson or crepes, to the Italian risotto, and the middle Eastern fallafel sandwiches etc. So many stalls with appealing food! We ended up buying a mix of different foods and sitting in the park at the end of the market for an improvised picnic amongst the locals. That was the best part, the people watching scene is fantastic, great looks from the local “creative” communities, both trendy young and older people (with their babies), mixing with the more traditional East Enders (more rough but very friendly). The whole mix is just working fine, very friendly, lots of laugher around, clearly a different vibe from the West End and from the part I know best, Portobello, which hasn’t got such a relaxed vibe. Sometimes it feels like the East End is definitely the place to live and be in London, so vibrant and original. Our day at the Broadway market was a real experience, it felt like being somewhere in Berlin, somewhere different. We will be back.

Really difficult to find and, when you do, it’s not exceptional. The stalls are pseudo organic - look pretty but many of the storekeepers, nice though they may be, don’t have a clue about ethical issues. Two of the cake stalls that tempted me over admitted, when asked, that they don’t use free range eggs although they sell them as “Organic”. The trendy air heads that flood through the market really don’t care. The vegetable stall was advertising several breeds of puppy - ask any ethical London vet what their views are on the sale of puppies in the capital. They also buy all their fruit and veg in plastic bags while the stall next to it is trying to encourage customers to stop using them! Great that they do but at least ensure the stall holders also avoid non-recyclable plastics! Please, if you must give your custom to such places, ask about what you’re buying! Please don’t support or condone animal cruelty!

I live nearby and Broadway Market is a fab joint for the weekend with friends - great pubs, market, coffee and food pitstops - I wouldn’t do my weekly shop here but it’s great for a few choice items

Although broadway market can be a tiny bit overpriced and poncey, nobody can really deny that the foods available here on saturday afternoons isn’t of the highest quality, so it’s recommended for foodies and those with a hangover to cure alike, most of whom will let you sample their wares as you go.
There are also stalls selling clothes and one selling only eco stuff that ISN’T food (from washing up powder to ecologically produced string), and the street also boasts some good permanent shops on the street - a record shop, organic food shop, vintage clothes, as well as a few decent places to eat and a couple of boozers full of the young and beautiful (i.e. me).

The food can be a bit expensive, but it’s generally of very high quality and extremely tasty. The baked goods are some of the best you’ll find anywhere. Very trendy, lots of scene kids. Go with a full wallet and an empty stomach. Try the fresh coconut water. The mushroom sandwich is lovely. Keep an eye out for a cheese and sandwich stall towards the centre of the market. The rosemary salami sandiwch is amazing.

From the moment you turn into Broadway Market you have walked into another world. On a saturday there is a bustling market and what with the trendy stores, bars and cafes you would never believe you was in Hackney. There is also lots of variety so bring you purse and take a gander.

You walk round this trendy market feeling like you have just fallen into the land of the 'Face Hunter’. If you haven’t a clue what I’m talking about - just check out face hunter’s website. The food stalls have a good choice of varying global cuisine though, particularly inviting when you’re hungry as there are many a culinary delight to choose from. Unfortunately after trying quite a lot of the food on offer, I have to say most of it looks better than it tastes. Shame. There are however great little coffee houses on either side of the market. Prime territory for people watching I say, take a pew in one of these or the pub on the top corner next to the park. Enjoy.

This is absolutely brilliant. You can get anything from here. Most of the stuff is fake, but if you put your mind to it, you can find some absolute bargains here.
