Teoh's Oriental Supermarket & Restaurant

I love the food and the staff were so friendly.  Iwent last night to find that is has closed down, gutted is not the word

The oriental store on Lower Ashley Road that is part of this business stocks imported items from China and Thailand even if those products are originally aimed at a Japanese market, such as Pocky. This is presumably to keep end costs to the consumer down, which is just fine by me. This is the only place that I've found that sells imported energy syrups as a reasonable price, and they stock cheap ramen and noodles which my friends tend to live on. It is a bit out of the way from the shopping district but well worth the walk if you appreciate Asian foods. 

We often visit the St Pauls Teohs and love it! We have taken visiting Friends to this branch quite often and have never been served a bad meal.

The resturant is big, open plan to the kitchen so you can view the chefs cooking away.

It is always busy and sometimes the initial time to have your order taken can take a while but after that the service is fast.

I have never had any problems with the staff/service before and would highly reccomend this resturant to anyone.

ate at the one in st paul's last week and thought the food was rank. i had the crispy duck which was tasteless and dried out & even the cucumber was past its best. my friend's curry was bland and gloopy and reconstituted. two stars goes to the venue not the food. nice big tables and an alright atmosphere.

A friend and I ate here a few nights ago. Service was assured and friendly; the food was excellent - fresh, well seasoned, beautifully presented. Jasmine tea excellent. And the price was too low really, hence the tip. Highly recommended.

Great tasty food and super value. Good big portions and relaxed atmos. I love bringing vistors to bristol here.

If you love oriental food and would like to make your own at home, this is a great place to go to find all the ingredients you would need to do so.
They have a wide variety of canned, packaged and fresh ingredients to choose from, as well as various accessories needed for cooking and eating (woks, chopsticks, etc).
They carry items not found in other stores and can answer your questions about various oriental foodstuffs.

A treasure trove of interesting ingredients that makes mundane tasks, such as shopping very fun. A good deal of the things on offer I have no idea how to use or what they are but I like looking at them all the same. The absolutely best thing on offer is great big slabs of tempeh in the freezer compartment. The price works out much cheaper than buying smaller packs at health food shops.
They also have a nice selection of tea sets and ceramics that make a unique gift or in fact a purchase for yourself.
I have always had very good service in here but I was told by a reliable source they had had such poor service they would never go back again.

I have been to the restaurant so many times, its rather like wagamama or Boudakan but the food is 100% better and a lot cheaper too. You definitly need to try the mango pancake desert, as a mango connisseur its comes highly reccomended.

This is where I go to buy fish. It’s caught and frozen on boat, then imported straight to the supermarket, thus it is fresh and affordable. Definitely worth it if you want to cook a large seafood meal for your friends but want to watch your pennies. As well as the wide selection of seafood, you can buy everything you’d expect from a Chinese supermarket and everything you wouldn’t expect. It’s all hugely discounted in comparison to the prices of produce found in major supermarket chains, so head on down and stock up! I give this place a real thumbs up!

Just such a great place to meet and eat. The menu covers such a diverse range of oriental cuisines - from Thai and Malaysian to Japanese and Indonesian. All the dishes are well priced and the portions great for the money. It’s good to go with a group of friends as many of the dishes can be shared - they will give you all separate plates if you ask. The staff are always friendly and helpful. You really do need to save room for a desert - they are a real treat.

I’m very enthusiastic about Teoh’s, because it’s tasty and cheap. It’s always buzzing - at both places, St. Paul’s and Bedminster. Bedminster is great, because you can park in the Aldi/Lidl? car park. When you’ve been short of funds, you can come here and still feel part of things. They’re always friendly. Another really good thing about it is it’s the kind of place to go with a big bunch of friends, as it covers the whole Oriental palate. So when you cannot decide where to go and eat, people can have a choice of Japanese, Thai, Chinese etc on one menu. and where this is usually a recipe for disaster, this place works. I always get the Thai green curry with tofu. It’s so good, I couldn’t even look at another dish here. Puddings are good! Lots of variations on banana, mango and coconut and not ones you can often get elsewhere. They also sell fortune cookies by the till, which is fun.

Teohs offers a great choice menu at low cost prices in a no frills environment. The restaurant itself is an open and spacious area. It has a very communal feel about it and can accommodate a large turnover of diners. I find it quite fun and sociable and have often struck up conversations with other parties on adjacent tables, but it's not the place to go for an unhurried, intimate dinner for two or for a very special occasion.

The set price menu has an appetizing range of Chinese, Japanese, Malaysian and Thai food. There are a few veggie options among them. I've always found the food arrived promptly and was tasty although it's not the biggest portions in the world. However, with such low costs, you can afford to order a few extras!
