Well, its an expensive, two Michelin starred place rated as the top restaurant in Finland, so it should be good! As would be expected, service was excellent. Attentive, not intrusive, and well paced (I read one review from an American who said it was 'too slow', which is very strange - who wants to race through an expensive, 6 course meal in the shortest possible time...?). The opening series of three amuse bouche were lovely, great local flavours dexterously combined to tease and fire up the appetite. The opening course of scallops done two ways was fantastic, and the main of pigeon was delicious, with melting foie gras, an intense gravy reduction and truffle foam. cheese course was tasty, but the 3 pieces were way too small. The matching wines with each course were of course well chosen and nicely varied, with the tawny port, a French chardonnay and a grenache desert wine being my favourites. The dining room is a lovely place to spend the evening, with subtle decor and great lighting. Good to see the head Chef Hans Välimäki himself working away in charge of the kitchen - so you know you're getting the real thing.
