My favourite bar in Soho. How can people not have fun here? There’s the free food on a Monday, the great club night from the website ‘Pop Justice’ on a Friday and face painting on Saturdays. Bingo, parties and silliness every single day of the week.

If you’ve had a bad day at work, I defy you to come here and not have a good time. Dancing to Queen with a bunch of crazy people you don’t know is fun. Especially if you’re dressed as a pirate.

Do dress up to come here. Don’t take it too seriously. Get your face painted and dance until you can’t feel your toes.

Yes it’s a gay bar, mostly. But it’s a Gay bar with a lot of very cute straight guys too. I’ll be on the stage dancing with them.

This is a gay and lesbian bar apparently. Not that there is anything wrong with that. I guess I started to suspect something when I went to the top floor and there was a man in drag sitting on the bar calling bingo numbers to high pitched adoration. Downstairs was a bloke with a microphone dancing in his pants with a puppet and a hardcore bunch of sing a long fans. Collectively known as ‘Kunt and The Gang’, they sang obscene tunes about wanking, Carol Vordeman and a song about trying to make it in the music business - “Use my arse as a c**t”. It was hilarious. I bought the DVD. Good night. Cheap drinks and a lot of fun.

Trash by name, trash by nature. With its grungy décor and cheesy tunes Trash palace is a great place to kick off your night. Gay or straight it’s a fab venue to pose, strut and show off your new converse.

Spread over two levels and offering a mix of old skool pop and indie hits there should be something for everyone.

There are always great drinks offers going on with shots going for a little as a quid on some nights its easy to find yourself worse for ware and bopping to the newest girl aloud track without a thought for your dignity.

If your looking to skip the ridiculously long queue at Ghetto and Popstarz then you can pick up a q Jump ticket at the bar.

Situated above a Chinese restaurant by China Town, it is very easy to walk past this bar without realising. Find the elusive entrance and journey up the stairs and you have the choice of two bar areas; the lower one with the DJ box turning into a mini-nightclub late at night, and the upper floor the perfect place to sit and chat with friends.

Being part of the Popstarz chain of bars, Trash Palace, draws a mixed, young crowd of indie kids and students who take advantage of some of the cheapest drink prices in central London. Popular with both gay men and lesbians and with a late-license the venue can get very busy, especially on weekends where a small entrance fee is charged after 9pm.

The venue won’t be to everyone’s liking, but if you’re looking for the antithesis of the G.A.Y bar then this is it.
