This beautiful 1920s art deco spa is an old fashioned oasis of calm. Unlike most of London’s new spas, there are no trendy touches, in fact, most of the period details - green and white tiles, high ceilings and original fixtures - have been left untouched. Try the Moroccan glove full body scrub - your skin will be as soft as a baby’s after a session on the marble slab tables. The usual range of beauty and body treatments are available and are generally better value for money than most spas…

Stunning art deco Turkish baths with arches, tiles and decadent spaces to lounge about in with mint tea, fruits and scones. A green mermaid overlooks the icy cold plunge pool (so cold it is hard not to scream, though you will be frowned upon if you do!). Start by taking it easy in the frigidarium (least hot room), move into the tepidarium to sweat, or if brave to the laconicum - very hot room - if you can bear it, and sweat away your worries. I would recommend taking flip flops as the floor is so hot you end up hopping otherwise. One steam room is so steamy you can’t see anyone in it. There is a roomy sauna too. Most people go naked (there are alternate days for men or women, and one mixed day when swimwear is worn), although you are given a cloth and two towels to wrap around you. You can book massages and body scrubs there, and order food too. It is expensive but you can use the swimming pool too, and as you can spend three hours there it is worth it.

STEAM SOAP SILK. Our third Sunday visit!! and as such we notice little things that pass you by on a first or second visit. The lights are film set bright. The lockers are like summer camp. The rest beds are cheap plastic. And I am sure you’re thinking “Aha, so why go?” Because this is an experience that we find is unique and unbeatable in the steam room “shmeise”, or just sitting in the hot steam while wrapped in a cold towel. The camaraderie created by people simply at ease with themselves Thin, fat, tall, young, not so young. We have been to countless spa’s and the simplicity of just being there is “The Experience ”. Tip, take a robe and beach shoes. Tip, ask for Shmeise as they don’t offer it unless you ask. Actually that’s one of the attractions. Nobody chases you to do treatments or services. Tip, give your self plenty of time.

A steam palace. Marbled tiled arched interior, cold deep plunge pool, hot light steam, great vibes. Rest area where people sleep like they're in their own bed. Great range of treatments. As it's an old fashioned Spa, treatments are in public, which feels kinda weird till you think of a hairdressers. Although there are traditional massages in private rooms, we had Hot Towel Treatment, unique to the Spa. I have never had a massage like that, wonderful! Hot hot oil and hot towels that relax you with a powerful massage from a giant bear of a man. Very special. Not cheap, entrance £20, treatment £30, a drink and a bite, £6. But you know what, I'm sitting at the airport and wish we were there. Hey, why not have one at the airport.....

This is a great spa and very relaxing, even though I have been there once it was a memorable experiance. The interior is excellent. Some days there are men only day and others its women only day. The spa offers a rangwe of beauty treatments including a turkish bath...........
The staff are proffessional and helpful. I would love to visit here again.

In my opinion this is one of the few proper spas in London on an English Heritage site.It was opened in 1929 when it used to be know as the Turkish and Russian Vapour Baths.Since then it has undergone a considerable amount of refurbishment and has earned its status as a Grade Two listed building. Well worth a visit, but check before you go there as they have rather strange opening times and there is single sex and mixed bathing times as well.
