This old fashioned shop/café is a real beauty! Yet again these little treasures hide in the open air natural History museum of St.Fagans.

First of all, the shop which is below the café sells an assortment of jams, marmalades, cheeses, home made sweets and a good selection of real welsh ales. Designed just like a small supply store in the late 18th centaury it feels quite out of the ordinary stepping into this past time. It can get very busy and can be uncomfortable having to squeeze into a tiny corner since the shop is quite small. I would advise coming towards the end of the night after you have enjoyed a small snack in the café, that way you can browse through the mouth watering supplies without having to push and shove through a mad crowd! The home made welsh fudge is truly scrumptious! Also in the summer months they sell chilled white wine so you can indulge yourself in a small picnic in the gardens of the museum before attending one of their summer plays.

The café, which is above the shop it defiantly worth going to for a quick snack or a cold drink. I always remember during the summer months coming to the old fashioned café and trying welsh dandelion and burdock with a few home made welsh cakes, truly unforgettable! A few weeks ago, I came to the café on a cold night and tried the home made welsh cawl, it defiantly hit the spot! Again the café can be very busy and usually there is a substantial queue to get a table, but trust me, it’s worth the wait!
