I really love old record shops….they have a certain feel and atmosphere about them that is somehow fascinating to me. I particularly love the scornful looks you get if you ask if they have something they think is rubbish… I did go in here a while ago looking for a really obscure out of print folk CD, and they were really helpful. They didn’t have it, but they gave me loads of help finding it from the competition!

Sadly I regard this place as only slightly better than the branch in Notting Hill. Exceptionally and extraordinarily unhelpful and rude staff who believe they are doing you a favour by even allowing you in the shop. As for the way they behave when buying music from you… ...they offer an insultingly low price and then put the records to one side as if the deal is already done. Sure you can find a bargain but the utter contempt the people who work here have for customers makes this an 'avoid at all costs’ shop.

This Music and Video Exchange in Camden is a great place for wasting an afternoon for a retro-music-lover. It's old-school like old-school record shops used to be, the expensive stuff is ordered (above about £4), and that bargain stuff is a free-for-all. You can get some real gems in here for almost nothing. The Camden branch is especially good due to its extensive bargain basement that's a little like a maze of 20p albums.
