I really loved the cafe. It is not easy to find it and even inside there is the door closed and without no sign. So unless you are familiar with the place, it is hard to get in. Inside is very unique and pop and indie. They put some nice paints and it is big more than you imagine. I ordered hammous and really nice. It is not too strong flavour at all and tastes really home-made. It comes with cous cous salad and pasta salad. I would say it is carb food rather than vegetarian though. Atmosphere is very good and relax. If you want to have a cuppa or cozy food, good place to go!

I love the egg! It’s a little hidden gem in the centre of Liverpool and even though I’m not a vegetarian myself, I still keep going back because the food is so delcious and well-priced. My favourite things to get are the soups and the garlic bread with cheese, which is on a huge door-step sized slice of wholemeal bread with garlic butter and gooey cheese ontop. Yum. Their carrot cake is also really, really good, the icing is amazing. It’s got a really good atmosphere and whenever I go I always see someone I know!

Vegetarian/vegan cafes may not be everyone’s cup of tea but the Egg Cafe is a bit different in that the food really fills you up and theres no pretentious atmosphere surrounding the whole experience. I had the spicy veggie burger which came with a whole plate of other food- side salads, bread etc. The quiches are supposed to be really good as well. All the meals cost around the £5 mark or a bit less so you get lots of tasty grub for a cheap price. It’s also a bring your own alcohol place so it serves as a cheap place to eat and drink. The food just feels so healthy as well.

The egg is fantastic. It’s a proper homemade hippy veggie cafe that you can take a book (or read their massive paper pile) and a fiver and lounge there all afternoon. In the evening it hosts lots of groups wanting to discuss over food. It gets noisy but that adds to the atmosphere, plus you can take your own alcohol in. The servings are a good, hearty size and reasonably priced. Really healthy and tasty- my meat loving friends all think the tandori mushrooms are amazing :) I used to go with my uni mates and lecturer and carried on when I left uni, either on my own or with a crowd. It’s a pleaser! Although, if you eat too much the thin, little door and winding stairs can be intimidating.

Went to visit in-laws in Liverpool and the highlight of my 24 hours was breakfast at The Egg. Without encouragement I probably would’ve bottled it before opening the unmarked metal doors at the top of a winding stair case. But knowing that a cafe lurked behind gave me the gusto to go in. And worth it it was.
The best veggie breakfast I can recall having in years. Nothing was greasy and I got two whole fried eggs! Maybe it’s years of being in the stingy south but two eggs in a veggie breakfast is unheard of in Bristol. Chunky wedges of rye bread toast was a fantastic change from the places that chuck on chewy white bread as a breakfast afterthought.
The lunches looked stunning as well but there was no room in my gut after such a fantastic feed. I think I would endure another family weekend just so I could return to The Egg.

I love the egg! It’s not the grandest of places to go, but sitting in a room with loads of old, wooden furniture and candlelight has a certain magic to it. The fact that you are eating food that has a little thought gone into it makes it even more special.
What is nice about the egg is that it caters for a lot of tastes, it’s not just a student place to eat - it attracts all sorts, from the grandiose to the lowly art student.
Don’t come here if you want a steak - there are plenty of other places that do that anyway (yawn). Come here for the great take on food, that isn’t just Quorn - it’s something more.

This is a pretty good little vegetarian cafe, situated on a side street in the centre of Liverpool. The food is generally pretty good, but nothing fancy. It’s well priced, and the 3 course meal deal of starter, main course, coffee/tea and cake (the carrot cake is amazing) is excellent value at only £8! You would have to be very hungry to manage to finish it all however, as the portions are quite big. Main courses are generally priced around £5, and they normally have vegan options available. They serve breakfast in the mornings (and until late afternoon on sundays) and you can get vegetarian or vegan full breakfasts, pancakes, porridge and other tasty things. The cafe is also an informal exhibition space with artwork for sale on the walls.

We stayed in Liverpool on the 20th October and had a fantastic vegetarian meal at The Egg Cafe. The food was excellent, as was the service and the atmosphere. The entrance - up two flights of stairs, quite dark, was a bit strange but we really couldn’t fault The Egg Cafe - a truly vegetarian/vegan venue with completely home cooked food. It is not sophisicated but very relaxing. Frequented by all ages, from students to 'older’ people like us.

Set up as a vegetarian restaurant. Location not ideal. Does serve some vegan options. Inside not smart enough and dusty when we went. Positives serves a wide selection of vegetarian food.
