Just attended a wedding at le Gothique. The courtyard is a marvellous place to hold a wedding & the food was great. The huge problem with this place is the venue’s owner who is unremmitingly miserable, truculent, unhelpful and an all-round pain the ar*e. EVERYTHING was too much trouble for him - some examples;
Having talked him around to the idea that the bride, groom and bridesmaids would like to come to the venue before the wedding to (shock, horror!) familiarise themselves with the venue we were then told when we turned up at the agreed time that he was too busy to see us or help us. He was keeping score at a game of boules at the time and felt this should take priority.
He was told that the bride and groom would like an hour and a half after the ceremony to have photos taken while their guests ate canapes in the courtyard - “that’s far too long, an hour will be plenty of time” was his characteristically helpful reply and while the photos were being taken he felt it was his place to bother the bride and groom to entreat them to hurry up, no doubt to make his day easier.
When asked by a guest if they may throw confetti they were told “No. Would you like it if I threw rubbish in your garden?”. I should point out that there are no notices to inform people that they shouldn’t throw confetti and at a wedding I don’t feel it’s unreasonable behaviour - certainly doesn’t merit being rude to a wedding guest.
When the bride arrived the day before the wedding to drop off table decorations he went out of his way to be rude to her, completely ignoring her when she said hello.
The prices paid are pretty reasonable for a wedding but it turns out the prices paid are not so cheap that they compensate for having to deal with this odious man.

A truly charming setting for an interesting pub and court yard in the middle of a young energetic surround. Food fare is of the French variety with a good selection of wines as company. Prices for main courses are in the region of £15 per head.

All in all a worthy destination for something different and full of character.

Situated in the beautiful Royal Patriotic Building, in Wandsworth, is this very special little French Restaurant.

With a bar area which is often as full of those in the know as it is with the energetic drama students from next-door and an upstairs eating area offering some recommended food, this venue is worth going a little out of your way to find, especially in the Summer, when you can dine in the enclosed courtyard.

Also recommended for functions as a friends wedding reception went very well with excellent service, attentive staff and reasonable prices.
