Review of Traid from 12 December 2007

Traid has been the undoing of me on several occasions.

It is a charity shop with a bit of a twist. They generally only put out pretty cool clothes and they ‘recycle’ clothes. This means that they take old clothes and make new ones from the fabrics and what have you.

Because they quality and choice of the stuff is quite high, the prices match. This can be a bit annoying because you’ll be paying quite a bit for something that is second hand.

BUT, then they do sales. About every 2 or 3 months, in order to clear out old stock to bring in new. It works in stages – they start with everything at £5, then each week it goes down by £1 until the week when everything is £1. This includes shoes and accessories. I once bought three hats for £3! I was over the moon. With 3 hats.

There’s also frequently a great selection of vintage clothes, particularly dresses.
