Totally agree with these comments. We have had the Sunday Carvery 4 or 5 times a year for the last 8 years and its always been good.
However, just had a Mothers Day Sunday Carvery (10th March 2013) and found that the small bit if beef was tough and fatty, the roast potatoes were Aunt Bessies or some other frozen type ( 2 of mine were black when cut open) obviously not prepared on site. The Cauliflower had been reheated by microwave (had that tang to it) and a sauce poured over it.
It used to be good value but £8.99 for a reheated frozen vegetable meal is not on.
I will not be returning to this Inn and advise others to give it a miss

Giving the benefit of doubt we went for a meal at the New Inn today and we were bitterly disappointed with what we received. It is worth saying that the fish part of the award winning fish and chips mentioned on the billboard was excellent. It was a shame that the fish was served with barely microwaved peas and oven chips that had been fried more than once, but without actually fully cooking the chips through. We also ordered the chicken and mushroom pie, pondering what it was about the pie that justified it's higher price than the steak pie. The pie when served was a slightly bizarre reinvention of the term pie, it was a disk of puff pastry with a small chicken breast on top. Once baked enough to cause the edges of the pastry to rise, but not such that it browns at all, they pour over a spoonful of stodgy mushroom sauce. The overall effect is tasteless, dry and thoroughly unpleasant. I have never written a review about, well anything to be honest, but my sister, who had the anaemic pie was adamant that I did not complain as she worries about sending food back.

Well, just arrived back from having a mid-day meal at the New Inn, Monday 14th March 2011, nice friendly and polite staff, however the main course of veg and roast beef was very poor quality. The Yorkshire pud was rock solid, the roast pots dark brown/black and dried out, veg limp and tasteless, could well have been reheated food. But then my wife and I only paid £7.95 each. Maybe it's a case of what you pay is what you get.

a good pub which is a managed house. have eaten al a carte and carvery. not tbad at all reasonable portions and friendly staff.
bit worried to see gumball machines blocking fire exits in the large dining lounge, hope an inspector doesnt see it or they are in trouble.
nice atmosphere and reccomended as nice pub to visit

The meal I had last sunday was OK. I thought it was expensive for the very little food on the plate.

An excellent pub with excellent staff. We always receive outstanding service from the new inn team. with an array of foods from carvery to fish and chips to mediterranean lasagne you will be spoilt for choice! take the kids along for a kick about in the beer garden (if its ever warm enough) or sit by the log fire in the winter! either way its an excellent place to go!

sounds like the management leaving comments, too sales orientated to be a genuine customer, nice try though
The New Inn is an early twentieth century coach house style pub on the A368.
It has a large bar area complete with roaring log fire - very welcoming on cold winter's night. They have an extensive restaurant serving meals all day either from the specials board, carvery or lunch / evening menu. There's a great choice in food - veggies are well catered for and the fish dishes are very popular. I've been here on several occasions and the restaurant is usually busy and always very ably managed by Sonja the landlady. The prices are about average; £4 for a starter and £7.25 for lasagne with salad and garlic ciabatta but there are also sometime lunchtime special deals.
All the staff here are very friendly, polite and accommodating and the atmosphere is homely and hospitable. There's some entertainment in the evenings and all you can eat buffets on Thursdays are only £9.95 per person and run alternately with Indian and Mexican food.
