Found this liitle gem purely by chance after visiting the Royal Mews- so glad we did!!Six hungry Welsh visitors from North Wales and boy did we have a good lunch ,delicious baguettes , sandwiches and cibattas with a huge choice of fillings and a good mug of tea to wash it all down. The staff are reallyfriendly and the takeaway service was very busy. The prices are very reasonable on par to our hometown Ruthin. We would have come back for breakfast the following morning but had already paid £20 for it at the Hotel when we booked!! We will be back next time we visit. Thank you- Diolch yn fawr , Parry , Edwards & Jones from Wales xx
Ensconced in a little side street to the side of Buck House is Le Signore.
Would that I could tell you that this little haven of decency and good food were not worth a spit but that would be churlish of me and only ensure that I get one of the savagely sought after tables at my pleasure.
Tina, our resident flirtatious stand-up , welcomes you with a caustic and scathing wit worthy of her Puglian roots. But make an order and the joking stops. You will be served up an epicurean delight that puts Jamie Oliver’s Italianesque cooking right back in the Essex box it should never have crawled out of.
You may enter thinking – Oh today I’ll have a little omelette with a side salad - watching the waist line don’t you know – but you won’t have counted on our Tina having cooked one of her special specials.
“today we have spare ribs with passata and spaghetti”
You make to protest but find the words stick in your craw.
“Ah go on then”
The Puglian minx has tempted you in again and you find yourself chomping on a pork rib with tomato sauce dribbling down your chin. There is something of the nursery in the atmosphere, Sigmund would have a field day here.
However, when all is said and done and the angels ask me to recall the thrill of it all I’ll tell them the thing I remember most about Le Signore is the incredible food.
Let’s hope Lizze in the Palace doesn’t get wind of the place - although I guess she’ll send over for take away.
Tomas
hoppingglad Well said, Tomas! I concur with every word. The only problem is that we risk making the place so popular that the chances of getting one of those hotly contested tables may be severely reduced. Never mind; this place needs to be celebrated at every turn. I'm sure Lizzie is already well acquainted with these gastronomic delights.

Second to none! I found this place by happy chance a couple of years ago and I'm so glad I did.
For a start, the food is wonderful - their lasagne is head and shoulders above any I've ever tasted anywhere - and I'm very fond of lasagne. Their meat balls must be experienced to be believed. There is a fantastic variety of delicious food on offer, especially considering how small their premises.
My wife is vegetarian and has nothing but praise for the various veggie delicacies she has tried there.
Amongst the staggering selection of sweets, is a Portuguese wonder called pastel de nate (I probably spelled that wrong) to which I have become addicted.
The service is very friendly, the atmosphere excellent. I have come away from there before now with my sides aching from laughter at the banter of the cabbies who frequent the place.
I am only sorry I live sixty miles away and can't visit more often.
Give yourself a treat and go there without delay. It won't even cost you much - their prices are spectacularly reasonable and the portions generous.
I would give it six stars if I could.
hoppingglad I must add to what I previously wrote. Not only has Le Signore not failed to satisfy me and my wife, my sister and brother-in-law, and others in the ensuing months, but also I have been introduced to a gastronomic wonder I did not even know existed. Last week I arrived a little later than usual and they had sold out of my favourites; it was suggested I try matrigiana (Tina wrote it down for me so I could be sure to spell it rigjht). Oh what a treat! Words fail me! You must try it. That's all - just try it! But only if you enjoy smiling from ear to ear in a fit of satisfaction.

Everyone in the office loves this place, and I’m sure they have good reason.
However, the one and only time I went there, my roll was rock hard. Literally. I threw it on the counter and it made a hollow thud.
One of the staff are friendly, and one not so much. But the prices are good, and if you go there and get something you like, that’s excellent!
But if you get a rock hard roll, don’t say I didn’t warn you.
Also - they load up on the butter, so if that’s not to your taste ask them not to put too much on.
Sorry Snack Bar, only 2 stars from me today.
hoppingglad I have to ask Barty if she pointed out the shortcomings of her roll to the staff at the time. I'm absolutely sure they would have rectified the situation pronto. They would also have responded similarly to load the butter exactly to your taste, if only you'd asked. I hjave never found staff anywhere more willing to be helpful. I suggest you try them again at Le Signore. Only the mediocre are at their best all the time.

Perfect stop first thing in the morning after a night of drinking. Even if you’re not hungover, the bacon and egg sandwich really hits the spot (just the right amount of ketchup!) and the thick strips of bacon are delicious. And I don’t even normally eat bacon! I’m still so used to the skinny/crispy American style of doing bacon that the it was a good surprise and had me doing the happy good-food dance.
Widor I shall look forward to trying it, I love a cooked breakfast especially when I had 1 over the 8!

The only place to head to in Victoria when you’re hungover and in need of a bacon and egg butty to take the edge off.
Really friendly, the food is fresh and tasty and plenty to choose from. Plus, they make a good cup of coffee.
hoppingglad Come on, Barty! If you don't want a bacon butty right now, have something else! You really must be feeling liverish!

A great little sandwich place just around the corner from Buckingham Palace. It's difficult to find places for lunch around the palace. This place is a gem and it's very popular with all the people working in this area. Try the Ham, Mozarella and tomato sauce on ciabatta. It's delicious. Service in here is great and they always call you darling or bella. Limited seating, so take away is probably your best option.
