Yummy! I’ve never not had a good meal here. Good value, if a little pared-back and cramped (come here alone and expect to be sat with another total random). Good to dive into after a hard afternoon’s shopping and browsing the nearby sex shops. Did I say that out loud? Yes. Yes I did :-)

Great value for money. I’ve been going there for many years. Honest food for a fair price

Went here for lunch. Good service. Had a Pork Kimchi bento which was marked as ‘spicy’. Sub-par, barely spiced kimchi. Boring.

Been coming here (and the one on Brewer St) for a few years now. The service is always fast and friendly. The food is always great. I particularly like the veggie gyoza and tofu teryaki. Much better than Wagamama's.

I used to love taro, but in the last few years the quality seems to have lowered, to the point that a couple of times I had a bad tummy...

Fantastic bento boxes. Quick service, and very tasty. Great place to go to fuel up before spending the rest of the evening in one of the many nearby bars.

I enjoyed a chicken bento box before a gig here this evening.
The service and delivery of food was nice & quick which is always a good thing to know if you're in a rush. We sat downstairs on nice wooden tables and the only downside was that it was very brightly lit.
The bento box was nice and big featuring chicken teryaki (dirty but nice), tuna and salmon sashimi, well cooked rice, edemame, bean sprouts, a bowl of miso soup and er some lemons - all for £9.
Will return

Taro is my favourite place to eat any fresh, tasty and delicious sushi. The atmosphere is really good, all japanese chefs are very concentrate and quiet as though they work in a kind of laboratory of food. I really love sushis, and this place is fantastic, It is really affordable, and fresh.

The best chicken ramen in town. I am a regular and love it. Good blend of marinated chicken with noodles, bean sprouts and see weed. Big portions as well. Nice starters and good sushi as well. I also go for the Goyza as well which is lovely. Open kitchen upstairs with TVs so you can watch the chefs so you know they are clean and can not hide. Staff are friendly although occassionally not the best when it comes to understanding english.

Taro is one of my favourite hangouts in the west end. It’s cheap, cheerful and satisfying. I slightly prefer this branch to the one in Brewer St as they don’t seem to rush you quite so much here. Foodwise, the ramen is tasty, the curries are filling, the bentos are good value and they even have green tea icecream! That’s enough to make me smile and come back for more. Oh, the sushi is pretty good too. The only thing I’d moan about is the fact that they close between about 3 and 5pm. boo!!

For a cheap and cheerful casual meal with a few friends you can’t go past Taro. Located right smack in the middle of Soho you will find their meals are good value, delicious and in very generous portions. You know the food is authentic when you see the Japanese Chefs as you walk past the upstairs sushi bar + kitchen, as well as the all-Japanese staff. The staff are friendly and the service is quick.

In my ever-eager quest for London’s best Sushi I gave Taro a whirl. I’d heard about the owner looking exactly like the little stick drawing on the card, but with two branches it’s hard to know which one he’s at.
The sushi was great - the rice was perfect texture and the fish was very fresh. I think the bento box is best value for money - I had the extravagent Salmon A that came with 5 pieces of sashimi, 2 pcs nigiri, 2 pcs maki, edemame beans and a rice compartment covered with thin slices of cooked salmon. It also came with a bowl of miso soup and was £11 - a full meal on it’s own.
We also sampled their gyoza, other maki and nigiri offerings and think that the asking price is fair for what you get. The place is clean and welcoming and the food arrives extremely quickly from a little magic metal lift of awesomeness in the corner.

yummy quick japanese fare: teriyaki sauce is among the greatest on the planet. Good place to go for a tasty meal in a hurry, and reasonable value too - at around £23ish for a meal for 2 [more if you’re ravenous]. Bear in mind the restaurant closes between 1450 and 1730 if you’re off peak.

This is one of my favs in London town, its the alternative to all those chain restaurants like yo sushi, and wagamama. The food is much better and the service is fast. I always go for the beef terayaki don and add an extra hand roll (salmon). Yummy. There is one which is just off regent street and another in Soho. The one in Soho is much bigger. And Yes the cartoon does look like the owner.

Linus, 13 February 2008: I used to work just round the corner from here and it was a popular friday lunchtime destination. Good bento boxes!
They serve the Asahi black beer which is pretty good too.
Great little sushi and noodle bar with super-fast service and a friendly welcome. A cartoon of the owner's face is the restaurant's logo and it's amazing how much the simple cartoon resembles him.
The Teriyaki Dons (salmon, chicken, beef or tofu steak) were very filling, served in a box with lots of rice and crisp vegetable and great value for money.
Pleased there's yet another good and more traditional alternative to Wagamama with speedy service that makes it a great lunchtime option.
