The Runway

Awful place! 4 trips to the salon for only 1 satisfactory wax!! My first trip to Runway was for a Brazilian wax, the therapist seemed friendly and chatty. We discussed exactly what I wanted. When I got home I discovered several patches had been missed. I called the salon and scheduled another appointment, the therapist I saw this time was extremely annoyed, almost angry that the previous therapist had not carried out the wax properly. I got the impression it was not the first time. The second therapist have me her name so I could ensure I booked with her next time. This time when I called to book an appointment I asked for the therapist by name and confirmed a further two times during the call that I would be seen by that particular therapist. When I turned up I was told she wouldn't be in until the afternoon and was offered the first therapist I'd seen who had messed up the wax. I refused to be seen by her, complained and was promised an appointment the next day (today in fact). I got there this morning to be told the therapist was sick, they said they didn't have my number to call me yet I received a text message from them earlier in the week confirming my appointment yesterday. Unfortunately the therapist I saw (the second time who sorted out the messed up first time) was very good but I shall not be returning to this shambles of a place.

Staff were friendly and polite. I came in for a moroccan treatment with wash, cut & blow dry. I wasn’t told what was being done to my hair, no mentioning of the moroccan oils, the guy was trying to give me a scalp massage which was hopeless (he simply didn’t know what he was doing), the haircut didn’t impress me at all, he couldn’t recreate the look I was after despite having an image in front of him. The place itself is nicely designed and seems clean. However, I left the place rather disappointed.

Like another reviewer here I was nervous about going along to The Runway as I’d seen mixed write-ups, but I was really pleasantly surprised by my experience there. The stylists seemed really laid back (which is a big plus for a shy person like me who hates being fussed over in any way) and did not appear flustered when i rang from the station saying I would be 10 minutes late.

I was expecting a bit of a ‘no frills’ salon having come in on a great offer for highlights and a cut for less than £70. It wasn’t uber chi-chi, but it was clean, roomy and functional with a separate hair-washing area with some of the comfiest back-wash basins I’ve ever experienced! I had turned up with a bad neck and was expecting the usual torture, but the wash was unusually comfortable.

The cut and styling I had was great, with some extra tips thrown in but no pressure to buy products – I have paid a lot more for styles I’ve been far less happy with. My stylist, Clyde, was also fab – very down to earth and friendly. I’d recommend this place to customers of either sex who want good value and a stress free service.

I slightly felt cautious as I expected to be told what the therapist would be doing. She didn’t speak much English but I guess I was slightly paranoid as a facial novice. However, after the scrubbing, rubbing, cold and hot sensations I was left me with a fabulously soft cleansed complexion. Recommended.

Went for a Beauty treatment, all very professional. Louise (the beautician) was extrmely polite and did a great job in making me feel comfortable! A credit to the Salon.
I initially only went because i had a KGB voucher, but i will definately be returning after such fab and speedy service.
