Its lovely to see this once a year and its something to look foward to at Christmas time.
There is only one drawback on this place and that would be the prices, because they convert the Euro straight into the pound it does tend to make things quite pricey, but as its Christmas nobody seems to mind that much, after all it is only once a year.
The German market sells exquisite jewelery that you will find hard to find anywhere else, and these aren’t priced too highly either - depending on what stall you visit.
The food on offer at the market is always delicous and is a certain treat! The food offered includes, chocolate covered fruit, filled pretzels, crepes, the famous German sausages and much more.
However, of course with great places comes great qeues, so be fore-warned that you will have to qeue but it is well worth it.

I have been visiting the German market in Birmingham for the last 3 years and will continue as long as they keep coming. Its such a refreshing change to have something different to the usual at Christmas. There is a great festive feel about the German market. Not to mention.. the great beers, mulled wine, German food (you can get the most amazing food here) Some of the stalls have enclosed bars so its not that cold.

I highly recommend you visit the German market even if its just to eat and drink. They do have merchandise stalls there, most of it is not to my liking but you can get some really niche things from there.

The german market manages to clog up the Birmingham city centre on a yearly basis, running from the tip of central library to the tops of new street.
It's nice to see once it must be said, but there's no need to hant us on a yearly basis. The food/drinks are overpriced, and the stuff they sell on the stalls is very expensive tat, which all seems to look the same.
I think it's great for raising Christmas spirit, but the dodgy music bands they get on the main stage there, accompanied with the unnecessary pricey nature just make it a bit of an eye saw for many i'm afriad.
Perhaps they should trouble other areas of the country instead, or at least come every few years!

The Birmingham City Centre goes all out for Christmas with the German Market. A section of the city is full of vendors selling artsy fartsy crafts and roasted chestnuts. As German market, there is beer being sold in the street and bratwurst all over the place. It makes the city more enjoyable to walk through and its a fun place to go with friends at night. Come hungry.

This street market has been returning to Birmingham for quite a few years and every year it gets bigger and bigger. It gets here from November and finishes just before Christmas.

There's more than 80 stalls selling mostly food and drink but there's also some unusual jewelery - especially the silver jewelery that looks really funky. There's also trendy hats, candles, old fashioned wooden toys and lots of other things that would make great gifts. The best thing about this market though is the traditional food for sale and the prices are on par with local shops. I recommend you have a bratwurst (sausage) that costs £2.50 and is lovely, nicely washed down with a glass of Gluhwein (mulled wine).
