Valencia Restaurant

I visited Valencia on Friday 4th May with 3 friends, we where greated by a friendly young waitress, who was quite nervous. It was 6.45, on a friday evening & there was only the 1 waitress. The Restaurant quickly filled, leaving us sat with dirty starter plates in front of us, & waiting far too long to order more drinks as the waitress struggled to cope alone. The Food was very good, but each course took too long to arrive! Fed up after over 2hrs, we asked  for the Bill, we wanted to pay by credit card, to be then informed that there card machine had been broken for sometime, & directed to the town centre to a cash machine. Sorry that totally ruined our Evening. 

This is an Italian Restaurant however it also has on the menu Indian food, don't get me wrong I enjoy having an Indian meal but in an Indian restaurant.

This place just does not cut the mustard I had garlic mushrooms as a starter and they where that hot that it took half an hour for them to cool enough to eat without burning my mouth.

For main course I chose a Calzone unfortunately it also was tasteless and the sauce that they spread over the top (I know it’s usually a tomato sauce) tasted of curry and killed the meal.

I certainly will NOT be recommending this place and will not revisit which is a shame as from the outside it looks very pleasant.

So one lesson is don't judge a book by its cover, fortunately there is another restaurant across the way which I will be visiting in the hope that it is a lot better.

We had never heard of Valencia until the other day, although its been open about 15 years Im told but the menu on line looked varied so we wandered in. We were the only ones in at 5.30 on a Tuesday evening, and were met by a very welcoming you lady called Laura, who had only just started there. The menu was very broad - mainly Italian, but some Asian dishes too. The place was a bit too bright at first (they did turn the lights down eventually) and one end of the 70 seater restaurant is taken up by the kitchen area.

We chose seafood pancakes as starters and they were delicious, with fresh seafood added outside the pancakes too. Very filling. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and had lots of vegetables and potatoes, and the garlic bread we had to accompany it was also 'spot on' - nice and crisp, not to dry and very manageable. Too many places either serve it bone dry , or totally sodden. this was perfect.

Deserts, not so hot - the tiramasu turned out to be a tiramousse - couldnt find any cake in there at all. We ate like kings, got great service, and all for £85. One we shall definitely try again
(Why is it called Valencia? Thought that was in Spain?)
