14 reviews of Brockwell park in English
I’m in Brockwell Park nearly every day. It’s such a special place. I love it because it’s fairly unstructured and every view is different and you get great views of the London skyline too. It’s also fairly hillly so really good for cycling or running and getting fit. Ali.
I love Brockwell Park, its beautiful full of wild life, from fox's ducks geese and an abundance of various birds including paraquet's and if your lucky you might see a hawk and of course i can't forget the bat's or butterfly's and lots of various trees and plants. Lots of activity for children and not forgetting the dog's they love Brockwell Park, lots of friendly people. the cafe's are great but i will agree £2.00 for a ice cream is to much when you can get a large tube from iceland for 99 pence shame on you ice cream men for over charging Friends of Brockwell Park.

Love Brockwell park - great view over the City, Battersea power station, even the London Eye (yes really).
Really nice cafe in the Georgian House at the top, or at the Lido Cafe which will be amazing in summer. Just wish they had a heated pool...
Good for playing tennis (£4 a court) in the summer, you can get tennis lessons there too.

There are not many parks in London better than brockwell. It's got it all, lido tennis great playground, now 2 cafes great trees and hills. The walled garden is a beauty. Views of londons skyline. Lambeth country show in July and all south londons fireworks in November. Love it.
Ah … Brockwell Park. Now that brings back memories of a concert I went to there in 1984 (showing my age now) when The Damned and New Model Army were playing. Oh what a lovely sunny, drunken day that was! This doesn’t tell you much about what it is like now but I felt the need to mention my happy memory!
Great park. We can get there by bike and enjoyed the day at near the paddling pool with my 9 month old son and friends. The park is hilly and gives you the impression you aren’t really in london at times. the south side is usually left to grow so it give a nice country feel to it. Of course there are all the things mentionned by everyone that makes this park a great spot to go as it has to offer something for everyone.
What a fantastic park. I’ve always been slightly dubious of heading over to Brixto/Herne Hill when i have Clapham Common on my doorstep, but when it comes to facilities, Brockwell Park beats most Lambeth open spaces hands down.
Facilities include:
- 5 tennis courts (in pretty good condition)
- A BMX track (awesome, i know!)
- Football pitches
- Swimming Pool
- Bowls
- Botanical Gardens
This a real “family” park. Expect to see lots of young couples, dog walkers and push chairs.
One word of advice - Never buy an ice cream from the ice cream van at the north side entrance. £2.50 for a cornetto and £2.00 for a 99!
This is a nice hilly park, stretching from Herne Hill to Tulse Hill and Brixton. It has refurbished lido, bmx course, tennis courts, and on the top of the hill is Brockwell Hall which now hosts a cafe.
The park hosts the Lambeth Country show in July with farm yard animals, village fete style stalls and music stages. I definitely recommend bonfire fireworks here, which were spectacular this year.
The park gets fairly busy during the summer although its large enough so that there should always be space for an impromptu rounders game or frisbee.
This lovely park is a dogwalker’s dream, and since moving to the area at the end of the summer I spend at least an hour a day there wandering about with my little pooch Benji. It’s a lovely place to watch the seasons changing and this morning leaves of all colours were scattered across the frosty grass - right in London’s zone 2!
There are lots of different parts to the park including a lovely pond with geese and ducks, tennis courts, bike track, community greenhouses, a cafe inside the stately home-esque building at the top of the hill, football pitches and wilder-looking land to the side - perfect for dogs to bound through when the grass has grown high. Benji’s made lots of friends in the park and it’s easy to spend hours there if the weather’s nice, just pootling around letting the dogs play with each other.
I’ve just started using the park for exercise purposes too. Running round the perimeter once takes about 20 minutes, so I’ll be doing that regularly. The paths are a bit bumpy but it’s a lovely space to be in and safer than the streets!
Brockwell Park is one of my favourite places in the whole of London! It is so beautiful and wild that you can totally escape the city chaos. I spent many a summer day just sitting in the park with friends until the sunset. There is so much to do here with kids besides running around in all the open space. There is a good kids play area with a zip wire, the lovely lido, a nice cafe in the middle of the park and ponds. If you walk up to the cafe at the top of the hill in the middle of the park you get a great view of London and you can see the Gherkin and the London eye and you suddenly remember you are actually in a city! The Lambeth Country Show is held here every summer and is also good for all the family.
It’s a great medium size park,I enjoy going there myself and saw how great it was for kids when I took my young nephew in the summer.
We started off having a swim in the lido, then had a go on the minature railway, ate at the local cafe “cafe provencial” then watched the BMX’rs going around the track then on too the large playground!
needless to say he fell instantly asleep on the way home!
Because Summer comes but once a year, and when it does come the sun shines . . well, about once a year . . . then when we’re blessed with a few warming ways, what better way to while away a lazy Tuesday evening but with lounging around the enormous outdoor swimming pool at the lido in Brockwell Park.
Admittedly, you may think that hanging at a lido doesn’t sound like great fun, but let me alter you view. First, there’s a swimming lane, which means you can get some exercise and feel worthy. Second, there’s an enormous area to swim and play, so you can muck about with mates without banging into people. And third, there’s always a good crowd of people here, so there’s a buzz in the air.
So get your swimmies on and head over to the park for some summer fun. Hurry, while stocks (sun) last!! . . . (£5.20 adult, children under 5 swim for free).
Considering its position next to Brixton, Brockwell Park is surprisingly nice really. It’s undulating, with sweeps of grass, pleasant ponds and some nice gardens. There’s a lovely walled garden with benches to sit on (some of which are past sitting on it has to be said). There’s also a café which looks excellent, in a nice old building with an airy feel inside. It looks like it is set up to appeal to Brixton’s trendier residents.
The park also has some parts were the grass has been left to grow a little longer, and wood left out to rot for the wildlife (I assume this is what’s happening with the ‘wood ring’ see pictures).
Though not so immaculately tended as some parks, that’s not all bad. Runners might find the undulations make for a more challenging run. Overall it’s a lovely park, with a really relaxing feel.
Brockwell park is just lovely. It was created in 1811 and opened to the public in 1892. It's fairly large, 2.8 km around, and quite hilly, so it makes for excellent running. Even better, the path that goes all the way around is well shielded from the traffic, you'll hardly notice it. There are some tennis courts, a BMX track, football pitches, a lido, a small botanic garden, and a cafe at the top of the hill, from where you can also get some great views of London. Recommended.
