It’s certainly the most recent in Poland.
Bombed during the Second World War, it was 90% destroyed. Work was undertaken between 1949 and 1963 in order to restore the town to its condition during the XVII and XVIIIth centuries, the period during which it was at its peak. All the fragments which could be recovered were incorporated in the restoration.
UNESCO classified the Warsaw Old Town with honorary status in recognition of the Polish people, who managed to reconstruct this historical location to an identical condition.
Today it is home to numerous museums and restaurants, and offers lots of opportunities for beautiful walks through its little lanes.
After a little walk in Warsaw, you will come across a square (Rynek Starego Miasta). The buildings are magnificently coloured and adorned with delectable typically Polish frescoes. Have a hot chocolate in this unusual setting. It’s very pleasant.
