I have seen this chain about, one in Islington, another in Soho but never had the chance to sample. Finally I manage to visit the one in Camden and I was really impressed. I’m not a huge fan of Indian but this has changed my mind. The service from the moment we entered to the guy opening the door as we left we perfect and really friendly. The food was good too. I took the Thali combination (the more expensive one) with a Prawn curry and I loved all of it. My only complaint is that I wish there was a little more rice and little more of the curry. It was only just enough for me but my boyfriend was left feeling hungry at the end and felt more that he just wanted more rice and a bit more curry than extra side dishes. I think this is the way they hope you spend more. For 2 thali platters a beer and a coke it was £30 So we were pretty pleased overall. It was out of here or Nandos and I think they come under the same level of eating out, service etc and similar price. I wouldnt mind a masala zone in Harrow!

When building work started over a year ago at the derelict Rat and Parrot pub next door, we never imagined how much our lives would be ruined by constant building work from dawn til dusk, 7 days a week. When the refurbishment was finally finished in December, and Masala Zone opened its doors, the manager came over to apologise personally for the disruption, and gave us a voucher for a meal for two. So, already pleased by our new neighbours, we went for our meal and were very impressed. The big thing here is the thali - a mixture of curries and sides served on one metal plate and you can choose from any of the main curries on the menu to be included in your meal. We had two different starters, and both were delicious. And our thalis did not disappoint. The restaurant is really nicely done-up, with prints of Indian posters covering the walls and gorgeous coloured glass lampshades. And the staff were extremely attentive, knew the menu really well and made some good suggestions for the food and wine, without being pushy. Overall, it was a delightful meal and would recommend this particular Masala Zone (it's part of a small chain) very highly.
