Although this place is mainly kids oriented people of all ages can enjoy this wonderful experience. I usually take my niece there since she just loves those little tuxedo wearing penguins. My personal favourite are the the snow leopards. And when we're done we hop on Thomas the Tank Engine train and do a couple of circles around the zoo just to complete the overall great experience. i would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to spend a great day.

For a large family this can work out to be an expensive day out but great for a birthday or special occassion treat. The animal collection is fab and really caters for the younger members of the family, my son particularly liked the reindeer especially when i told him they were in reserve for santa’s sleigh.

The spiders and snakes are great as are the parrots and there are wolves, monkeys and zebras. There is the chance to feed some of the animals but we didn’t get a chance to do this. We did , however take a ride on the tractor trailer which the children will absolutely love!

As well as the animals there are several play areas for the children to burn off energy and for parents to catch their breath and have a coffee.

Recommended day out

My family all liked this place. The only thing I would say, is the animal cages are not huge.
There were lots of activities and shows on for the kids. They also had activity things that cost extra (e.g. feeding the tigers). We were very tempted to do this, but would have cost a fortune as we all wanted to do it.
There is a good play area and a train ride for the kids. It will keep them amused for ages, just remind them that they came to see the animals not play. There is a picnic area to sit down at near the play area.
They have some good viewing areas to see the animals and lots of variety of animals.

I knew this zoo was designed to be appealing to children so the play areas weren’t a surprise but I was surprised by how many animals they’ve got. The cat collection was a particular delight, I could have stood and watched the two snow leopards all day. They have a good bird collection as well. The 'little person’ who came with me thought the indoor softplay area inside Starbucks was just terrific, I would have too if I’d been allowed to drink my coffee but I was expected to softplay as well! The Thomas the Tank Engine train ride that circles the park is recommended. It’s not a huge zoo so you won’t get worn out walking around and as you may have gathered, it’s perfect for small children.

Number 2 to London Zoo not in my book, it is far superior A wide variety of animals and the viewing platform let you get up close in safety. Watch out for the prowling tiger you could get sprayed. The special events are just that special. The catering is not of a high standard and on the expensive side, but if you bring a picnic there are adequate facilities available. the gift shop has a good selection of gifts for all tastes and pockets. I have always used a car to get there and cannot comment on public transport. The whole experience is great value for money.

This place is great, especially as you can use Tesc clubcard vouchers to get in, which makes it a cheap day out. there is enough to occupy children for an entire day.
There is a large outdoor playarea, with various climbing frames and a fullsized fire engine for the kids to climb over. Adjacent to this is the picnic area, so adults can sit and watch the children playing while enjoying a coffee from the restaurant. I would recommend taking a picnic and supplementing it with some food from the restaurant.
The animals are great, but the main attraction for my kids was the large outdoor paddling pool, with slide. they spent ages in there and didn’t want to leave at the end of the day.

I visited this attraction in 2006 with my ex boyfriend. It was quite lovely but a little pricey. There were many amazing animals to discover, however it was rather a dull day weatherwise and i think that we would have had a lot more benefit from the park had it been hot summery weather. Definitely it is far more suited to families and i would definitely recommend schools use the place for trips rather than couples with lots for the kids to do but if you want to have a change of scene from the city, then this is the place for you. I liked the fact that it has a lot of potential for development and the staff were very helpful. Also it is far better to see the animals in real life than on the television. The only thing i would recommend for improvement is perhaps something more for the adults to do so there is a balance as the kids cant go on their own and the adults do like to feel engaged and part of the fun too!
