If your passion for fashion extends to what you put on your feet - and I don’t mean footwear - this little shop is certainly worth a visit. Row upon row of neatly stacked socks are arranged on central display tables. Tights, stockings and footless attire line the walls, and there is also a good range of those nifty little slip-ons you can wear with low cut shoes. The socks are available in a huge range of colours, knit, texture and style. Gorgeously soft, dry-fit, knee-length socks cost around a tenner, but are worth every penny as they last forever.

I particularly like the shop in Covent Garden - it's always pleasant to shop in that area. This is a shop that imports socks, tights and leg warmers from Japan. All of them are really high quality, though not very cheap. But you can find a good variety of models and colours. I really like the tights: the turquoise blue ones are gorgeous and a bit hard to find anywhere else. Also, I bought over-the-knee golden ones that look amazing. And there you can find the new sockettes, which are a mania now in Japan - every fashion-conscious girl wears them.

Tabio is a little gem that can be found along Neal Street in Covent Garden (along with another 5 locations in London). I first found it located as a concession in Selfridges and was so pleased to find a whole shop and even more stock to wallow in. Look out for their floral socks which are so cute and come in an array of colours and lengths and styles. They also do innovative little sockettes and toe socks all designed to make shoes more comfortable yet adding little bits of frill and fun (total apposite of the matronly ‘pop sock’ so popular in the 90’s). The quality is also fantastic – makes a great place to pick up a gift for both men and women.
