5 reviews of The Ramsholt Arms in English
We’ve just come back from The Ramsholt Arms and it was truly wonderful. The scenery was breathtaking and I had a whole lobster which was an absolute pleasure! I would highly recommend it – the food, the location we have always found to be delicious and outstanding!
We had a very poor experience at the Ramsholt Arms. Barely adequate food, quite expensive, very slow service. Lots of dishes off, sticky tables, noisy. Manage very uninterested in my complaints, he hasn’t even replied to my letter.
I would largely agree with the above comments. However, I strongly recommend that diners avoid the Deep-fried Goats' Cheese until the establishment's kitchen hygiene returns to what I am sure is its customary high standard. I would not wish on anyone else my experience over the last 20 hours or so. Such a shame; I used to enjoy meals there.
Great pub with a good selection of drinks and some nice food. It is remote although I think this is one of its plus points. In the summer it can't be beaten sitting outside with lovely views overlooking the river.
The pub is also surrounded by some great walks. If you are visiting Suffolk then this pub should not be missed.
Situated on the banks of the River Deben, The Ramsholt Arms is somewhat difficult to find, but it is well worth spending the time to find it.
There is plenty of parking, both next to the pub and a bit further up the hill and as you come down the bank your first view of the pub also provides a wonderful vista of the Deben estuary.
Since there are moorings along this stretch of the river, the pub is a favourite haunt of boatsmen and the pub has a charming, un pretentious air about it.
Food is good (with decent Suffolk portions) and the service is friendly and timely.
It is a really nice pub to hole up in on a winters night, or on a sunny afternoon in summer - although it can get very busy on bank holidays.
THe only downside is that, due to it being a bit remote, you will need to bring along a designated driver.
I will admit to being a little biased, since I held my wedding reception there - and everyone commented on the excellence of the venue.
GoalGunner Just because you had a bad experience, it does not mean that the other reviews here are not true.
Your comments are extremely poor and you should refrain from commenting on the veracity of other reviewers.
If you had bothered to look, you would notice that my review was 3 years old. It is quite possible that it is under new management now, but my comments from 3 years ago still stand!
