The OLD Bull Ring of the 1960s and 1970s was just that - the only major store in it was Woolworths. Everything else was individual shops....around 150 of them.... perhaps that was why it started to decline towards the end of the 80s and become the eyesore that it was so celebrated for....

Definitely an improvement on what was there before but it’s just so soulless (except for Selfridges). Most of the shops are pointless – they just moved from New St. or Corporation St. and has left them with bare windows.
It has been superseded in terms of overall shopping experience by Cabot Circus in Bristol and the Westfields in London. They’re still soulless and have the usual rubbish shops but also have made it more of an experience with more/better food. But that’s what happens when you innovate – the followers build on the success.
It’d be great if they could help to create a bit more atmosphere/different experience by having a couple of plots kept for independent businesses at a lower rental but why would they if they can charge a huge amount to huge chains?

it’s good place to hang around, other than shopping. Like window shopping or and other stuff.
Though it’s a good shopping centre, if your a tourist. You will probably enjoy your time there more than we do.

So many people during de weekend. You can barely walk and it is just like any typical busy city shopping centre.

I agree for shopping birmingham is huge but apart from the bullring centre everything else is spread far and wide. Quite easy to get lost in. If you don't like crowds then steer well clear or go very early. Parking very expensive if you go by car, so take the train or bus.

The Bullring Shopping Centre is a great place to go, there is so much going on and so much to see it will take you hours to have a really good look around. It is much better than the old Bullring much cleaner and more upto date. There are shops for almost everything you would want or need. There is just a wait for the lifts which can be a bit of a pain as it is always very busy there. It is still a fantastic place to visit.

This is actually two huge shopping centres on five floors opposite each other. All the shops are here, it's spotless and there's plenty of room to browse.
You'll need a few hours to explore!

This place has seen a renaissance from when I last visited in 2002...... the buildings are nothing special architecturally but at least they are a vast improvement on what was there before. However, having said that, I find this new place too flash, too designery and too soulless.... it lacks a little something: namely the unmistakable scuzziness of the old Bull Ring / Markets and the variety of smells that assaulted your nose the moment you wandered from aisle to aisle..... These days there is far too much emphasis on clean clinical trendy fashionable and lowest common denominator pandering - all those usual chain names that make every single town and city centre appear like clones.... Birmingham should resist all attempts to look like just A.N. Other city centre.

As shopping centres go it's not the best. The selfridges is the highlight. The main problem is navigation! It's hard to flow around easily. There's 3 entrances over 3 levels and from different directions you can only walk around on the bottom level. Shops are mainstream and some good brands but it lacks atmosphere and style. There is also a lack of places to eat etc.

this is top notch shopping at its best, better than london and nottingham or derby.

Birmingham council missed an opportunity to do something great with this shopping centre. It's not that it's bad, it just should have been much much better.
How boring to allow all the usual high street stores to take over the town centre like they do in every other town centre in the country.
More space should have been allocated to independent brands like the Lanes in Brighton.

We visited The Bull Ring during our recent stay to Birmingham and I think it was a mistake to visit on Saturday. The place was absolutely heaving.
However, plenty of places to eat and drink and a good selection of shops. The only problem we had was finding someone to operate a till in Debenhams - we queued for over 10 minutes before someone appeared to help the one till operator!
Outside The Bull Ring is a vast array of market stalls and I understand there's a good range of things to buy including food stuffs, but sadly I didn't get a chance to look.

I visit the Birmingham Bull Ring Market once a month at least - for the largest range of fresh fish from all over the world. Its a 35 mile drive or a train ride away - but if you love fish you'll be in the right place. With at least 8 if not more fish stalls - offering loads of bargains .
Extremely busy at weekends and holidays periods - but excepted - due to the quality at the stalls!
Good day out if you love shopping for clothes or food and don't mind large crowds!

That's nothing - the OLD Bull Ring Market had something like FIFTY fresh food stalls all in one area - the stench of Fish and seafood and poultry at that former place was just formidable. Arguably it was the biggest fish/fresh produce market hall in the UK outside of the Capital. It was THAT amazing. Used to spend whole days just studying the sheer numbers of shoppers thronging the market hall when I was a student in Birmingham during the early 90s....utterly fascinating it was.
Where are the most exciting shops? On the outskirts? By the ring road? Or Bang in the Centre? Bullring is the glamorous heart to Birmingham. Over 160 of the most imaginative and desirable shops for you to explore - including Selfridges and Debenhams. And more than 25 restaurants for you to revitalise yourself in. All right here in the centre of things.
So make your way down to BULLRING

Well designed and connects the diffrent streets around it with opportunity to enjoy open and enclosed environments. Inclusion of open mall in the heart of bullring makes it differnts from many of other malls in the world.
