Walked past recently and the restaurant was shut with a sign on the door saying "Closed due to a greedy landlord"... then a few weeks later it seems to have opened again "under new management"... haven't been back since so can't vouch for it any longer.

A friend of mine once passed up on dinner here in favour of Strada as she wasn't enamoured with the look of the place from the outside. Her loss, as Destino is a cosy little Tapas restaurant that's both delicious and cheap.
The classics of chorizo in red wine and patas bravas were good quality, the calamari cooked to perfection, and the stuffed peppers were sweet and delicious. The real winner, though, was the ham and cheese croquettes - I could have just lived off these all evening and been happy.
There's a small yet decent selection of wines and the bill came to under £20 a head for six dishes and wine. The only reason this hasn't got five stars is I want to head back and check out the other dishes to see if they can live up to the six we had.
A great find - one of the best tapas restaurants in London. Speak to the friendly owner and you'll find out that the food's not 'traditionally spanish' (even though all the classic dishes are present and correct) but also incorporates Basque and Portuguese influences. Which all makes for a really interesting mix which come to the table so nicely presented you might think you'd come to a bastion of nouvelle cuisine.
Good prices, a very affordable wine list (ask for a recommendation as we had a superb cheaper alternative to the more obvious and expensive riocas... sorry can't remember the name!) and friendly (but relaxed) service makes for a really good dining experience.
Judging by the hugs to the staff as customers leave, this place seems to have many regulars - I'm certainly going to become one of them!

baroquedub, 7 March 2010:
This is a fantastic Spanish tapas bar, offering superb food and drink and the best service in town. I know people who go for the set lunch most days and it is reasonably priced for good homemade food. If you like your deserts, the vanilla cheesecake has got to be tried. The wine is really good as well, going well with the dinner in front of you. Parking is difficult in Putney as it is mainly permit holders so best to get the train, as it is only a 5 minute walk from the tube and a 2 minute walk from the mainline.
