The Copthorne Tara Hotel

Great location. I used to stay here a lot. There are two types of room – Superior, on the top floor, or regular. Superior rooms are in nice condition, but the regular rooms are tired, dated, and some are downright grotty, with broken fittings. Could be a 4 star if they invested in the room more than once every twenty five years.

The hotel is localized in a good area. You reach the shopping mall easily by foot. The rooms of the hotel should be modernized. In the little hotel shop I found my dream cup: a bone china mug “To Commemorate the Royal Wedding of H.R.H. Prince William to Catherine Middleton”.

If you get a cheap deal this hotel is certainly a cut above the rest with plush bar, and quite comfortable/clean/big rooms. Having said that, it still feels a little soul-less so I wouldn’t pay top dollar. But it is stunningly convenient to High Street Kensington tube station.

We visited the Copthorne hotel in August this year and booked 2 twin rooms for a 2 day tourist visit to London. Our rooms became available around 10 minutes after the check in time, although we had arrived early and asked if we could check in earlier. however this was a housekeeping issue and not the chap at reception who did a great job and was evidently on the ball and chased it up for us on a regular basis. The rooms we had werer adjoining each other, both were in need of a refit, but as we were not going to be in the rooms for long periods of our time, they suited us fine. We also booked via Priceline and this was very economical to stay there. We did not have breakfast included in the price however reception gave us vouchers that reduced the price of it. The staff were very pleasant on check in and departure. If the price was right we wouldn’t have a problem staying there.

The hotel is somewhat efficient, but they need MAJOR make over. I have problem with heating and air conditioning, not the best bathroom, hate the sink! with two different tap for hot & cold water.. I think it was last year 2007 they decided to cut jungle at the main entrance and transform it into a view. My company put me up there. It could be worst.

This hotel is a well managed one and has a nice ambience to it. The rooms are reasonably large for a london hotel and clean as well. There are coffee facilities and the reception is responsive too.
