Riverside Suites Hotel

I had the pleasure of having to be in Sligo on a 2 week training course so I went looking for a cheap hotel room and came across the Riverside Suites.

Story behind it is that it used to be the Riverside hotel. A lot of competition in Sligo so some genius decided to convert it into 30 suites.

They took two hotel bedrooms, left one intact with the en-suite, with the other one they took out the bedroom furniture and put in a dining table and chairs, couch, armchairs and coffee table. The en-suite of the second room then got turned into a kitchenette complete with oven, hob, fridge, dishwasher, microwave and sink.

All you need to cook and clean up after yourself.

What a great idea! So I priced around and the best deal I could get was €62.50 with the Sligo park which was Bed, Breakfast and evening meal (with a pint!). Not bad I hear you say. Well the riverside suites came in at €50.

I walked up to Dunnes Stores supermarket up the hill in front of the Riverside and bought my food for the week. Much healthier and cheaper than the hotel.

Website shows some of the better decorated rooms but mine was perfect for what I needed.

Highly recommended for those of you looking for a town centre self catering location.

Small carpark at the front but if you talk nice to reception they will put a cone with reserved on it for you the fact you are a long term resident.

There is a gym downstairs but not sure the connection with the hotel.

Thai family have rented the restaiurant from the hotel and looks very nice.

Bar is big but has a "Library" named section with is nice and private-ish. This is also the only place in the complex to get wi-fi. Bar decor is Irish pub in a box setup.
