I was disappointed to find that when we arrived at 6 pm the staff had not even started to set up the bar in the function room that we were using on the first floor. There was one young member of staff busy doing this and with guests arriving from 6.30 for a meal at 7 it was quicker to go to the bar downstairs to get served.
I purchased a bottle of shiraz (£26.50), 2 soft drinks and 2 shot glasses of nuts.....total bill £32.70.
Considering that hotel were catering for 50 persons the food was very good.
The only real faults were no butter knives on the side plates, no milk/cream for coffee placed on our table and one very embarassed young waiter.
I had asked a member of staff for a remote microphone for our President to use while speaking but according to the staff member I spoke to they hadn't got one and another who said it had to be pre booked at least 2 weeks in advance.
Plenty of coat hangers/rails supplied for coats.
Overall a pleasant experience, excellent meal but expensive drinks.
I usually steer clear of Novotel’s but I have to admit I had egg on my face during this stay. The hotel is modern, well designed (albeit it a bit european in decor), the rooms are chocked full of storage space and even a really technological safe for you to play with! Large LCD TV crammed full of channels and I think they have free WIFI in all rooms (but I’m not sure as I didn’t use it).
Paid only £40 for the room (winter rate), in a nutshell… well worth it!
