It's a great hit for birthday parties at weekends and a great midweek-drinking destination.
They're definitely one of the coolest and most popular venues in Camden.

Unfortunately 55 bar isn't located on the Camden High street so I keep forgetting to venture in there yet there's so much to love about the place. The music is seriously indie, the cocktails are incredible, service is good and normally it's not too packed. Aim for 2012: Drink more cocktails!

Very nice setting and atmosphere for cocktails in London. It's cheap and tasty but actually sometimes too strong. My White russian was soaking in vodka, but after nicely telling the staff everything was sorted out and the drink delicious. Thumbs up

My favourite bar in Camden.
Friendly staff. Quality cocktails. Classy clientele.
I recommend the FBI (Finlandia Vodka, Kahlua coffee liqueur, Baileys and vanilla ice cream), although the calorie intake means you've probably blown your daily allowance!

I don't really like cocktails. I hate cocktail bars. But I do like Fifty Five. A cocktail bar that is not enveloped in it's own colon is a rare thing, and I don't think that 55 even care whether they have a colon or not, it's just so laid back.
I do have a list of gripes;
- service is not always that great. They obviously have a great time working there, and there are some bar staff with real flare but at times it can be noticed that they're not... as eager to please as you would like.
It does take quite a while to get yourself a drink, but really if you don't appreciate that your cocktail is being carefully, nay, lovingly prepared in front of you and that it will take longer than squeezing a beer out of a tap then frankly you've come to the wrong place.
- it's not always the cleanest bar in the world. There are a lot of drinks, juices and fruity adjournments flying about the place which is a lot of fun, but I do hesitate from leaning against the bar just in case I can't get myself off again.
- you get a lot of very "trendy" people... the kind of "trendy" who after a few too many cocktails become utter tools. But I guess that goes for most of the bars in London. Such is life!
- reserving tables. I don't like reserving tables. Restaurants, yes. Bars, no. My own personally pet peeve? Bygones.
This list is short when compared with 55s merits. Great music, really buzzy atmosphere, great cocktails (I don't even like cocktails, but they're great! Highly recommended come the Hendricks Collins, whisky sour, and mojitos) and 2 gloriously happy 2 for 1 hours every evening. Plus 2 for 1 on mojitos all night every Monday. And I think 2 for 1 all Sunday to boot.
So, basically, it's cheap, boozy and little bit flawed around the edges. I can't imagine why I don't drink here more often!

The reviews below seem pretty accurate: music is very mainstream indie, which may appeal or repulse depending on your taste. I went on a Saturday night and thought it turned excessively lairy after about half 10 with big groups singing and dancing. You might struggle to find a table, but that's to be expected anywhere remotely good at the weekend.
This sounds overly critical but I did in fact quite like the place. Cocktails are good and pretty much the bread and butter of the place. Don't expect to be served quickly, but they're worth the wait. I'd return, particularly for the happy hour (6-8pm daily)

HUGE range of cocktails and professionally made, 6 at a time - impressive to watch.
However, although the happy hour applies for a lot of time (eg. all day on Sunday), busier times will leave you struggling to be served, and the 2 for 1 offer only applies to two of the same cocktail which is disappointing.
I've tried an ice cream cocktail from there which was very good, but a fruity daquari I ordered seemed watery and was disappointing... it's worth a visit because it does impress, and I daresay that it's a great place to hang out on a Sunday in the daytime, but a crowded Saturday night might not quite seem worth the effort.

Possibly the best cocktails in London. This place is what Camden always promises but hardly delivers, an alternative setting tastefully done! Choose from a tempting variety of 150 listed cocktails (although if you sweet talk the hunks behind the bar they’ll mix almost anything for ya) with regular special offers ranging from happy hour (6pm-8pm every night) where you get 2-4-1 cocktails (between £5-£7 for most), Mojito madness on mondays where it’s 2-4-1 on…you guessed it, mojitos all night and sundays where it’s 2-4-1 all day =) Definitely try the Bounty Martini, one of their signature drinks. The people and staff are gorgeous and approachable and although it’s a bit mad during happy hour it only adds to the spectacular atmosphere…did I mentioned regular themed parties?? Well check it out!!!

This location has failed to live up to it’s potential for years, pub after bar failing. At last a formula that works, great drinks and fantastic music, not sure if the comedy venue is still going. Good place to meet up.

Great Camden bar. Lots of lounge-y leather sofas and chairs, funky modern decor, dim, and with good tunes (the bartenders will take requests for their CD player).
They focus on cocktails here, hundreds of ‘em. They have a happy hour between 6 and 8pm each night that’s buy 1, get 1 free, which makes it easy for groups to sample different types. They have a full listing of cocktails on their web site (under Menu); most are about £6, but at 2for1 that’s a good deal.
Friendly staff. Busy at the weekends, but usually not too bad earlier in the week since it’s back a ways from the main drag through Camden.

Discovered this bar recently. I mean, it’s been there for ages but I’ve always automatically headed for Lock Tavern or Hawley Arms when in Camden and looking for a beverage or four. Conveniently located next to Wagamamas, it’s a fairly small bar but has comfy seats and is usually pretty busy. This is probably largely du to the variety of deals the bar offers on different nights - 2 for 1 cocktails, discounts on mixers, happy hour etc. It’s nothing remarkable, but it is nice when you can find a cool place to have a drink that doesn’t cost a painful amount of money, so I’d recommend this place.

This bar is the greatest gem that I have come across so far in London. you can get buy one get one free cocktails, EVERY day from 6-8 at very reasonable prices, the music is great fun if a little too loud for normal conversations and the decor is really funky. But most of all, the bar staff are just incredible. Not only are they skilled, well trained cocktail makers, they are the friendliest bar staff I have ever met, cracking jokes and giving you time to have a conversation even though there are people falling over the bar because its so busy. If you dont mind waiting a little longer for a perfectly prepared drink, prepare to be entertained and to have a good time
