Having only sampled the bar area of Camino, I can’t speak for the restaurant - but after reading favourable reviews I have to say I was a trifle disappointed with the drinks-and-tapas portion of the gastronomic venture.

Well located in King’s Cross this is a popular spot for the office workers of the locality who are after post-work drinking without a bus fare to Islington; it serves the purpose tolerably well with lots of space and an appealing vibe. The £15 house rosé we sampled was a bit below par (even house wines should be tasty) and although the décor is lively and fun it does feel pretty chain-y and not exclusive enough to justify the prices in the next-door restaurant.

Staff were tolerably helpful and there’s a buzzy atmosphere. Camino’s convenient but not highly commended by me.

Set in the courtyard behind King's Cross Starbucks and McDonalds, Camino is pretentiously high-class. It's impossible to get a table without booking, although the restaurant is rarely full. However, they turn away customers who show up even on nights when business is quiet and there is plenty of space, if they have not pre-booked.

Despite the poor customer service, the food is of excellent quality. The menu itself is of classy graphic design, a line representing a journey through spain. I had a cravat of very light, fruity white wine, squid-ink rice, and something intensely chocolatey, melted, molten, fudgey, for dessert. Delicious. Almost justifies the pricey-ness.
