Sweet Desserts

As the name implies, sweets are good here (savouries, not so much). I love their almond croissants. Coffee’s good too (certainly better - and with more character - than from the nextdoor Starbucks).

I had 'em make a birthday cake for my wife a few years back. It was yummy and everybody loved it.

Service is fast and friendly too.

Good place to keep in mind.

Reasonably priced - especially compared to the West End and the more pretentious places around Upper St, including excellent breads (if you get there early enough) as well as the usual patisserie fare. Although last time I checked the almond c’s were £1.60, they are great. Superb hand-made food. Friendly atmosphere, newspapers on hand.

The reason it’s a 4 and not a 5: really the coffee’s not great, especially given the competition all along the market - sometimes a bit watery, sometimes burnt, often the milk is so highly foamed the first sip is a mouthful of air.

The pastries here are to die for. I love their big, gooey almond croissants oozing with custard that you can get for a pound. They also have sandwiches, wraps, cakes and tarts, just wonderfully beautiful gourmet baking. The lattes and coffees aren't too bad, either, and the atmosphere inside is clean, modern, and chill.
