Well the service provided by Addison lee was well worth it. My colleagues and I had just finished our meeting and as usual running late for our lunch rendezvous at the park inn Hotel Heathrow. We asked another visitor at the Royal College Of Surgeons, how we should go about getting a cab to hotel, he said he uses a company that can get a taxi to you in minutes in London, so he gave us the number, my only gripe is that the number started with 0844 which means it cost more to ring. However I was prepared to offset the mobile cost if the taxi arrived quickly. Within 10 mins, I received a text msg and a few minutes later, we saw a Addison Lee Mini Cab. The driver was well mannered and the cab was clean. The number is now stored on my mobile phone, so I always call them when in London.

This used to be the best cab courier firm in London by far, expensive but worth it.

Now is it just a good mini cab firm and a courier firm that leaves you wishing you went elsewhere.

Basically for the cabs they now have this automated service that schedules the cabs, rather than their old controllers that they sackedd.

Teh computer tells the cab about the job 20 mins before the job, so as the cab is normally nearby you get them outside your door 18 minutes before they were meant to arrive. As they only get paid for the fares you give them you feel quite pushed to try and get you to come out 15 minutes before you actually booked the cab.

Also, once the cab turns up you get a text message, if you have not come out after 2 mins you get a second one. After 5 mins the head office controller calls you. this is all with the mini cab driver sitting 10 metres outside your door. They cannot be bothered to get out of the cab and ring the door because they lazily do this automated system. As you are not looking at your phone as you are getting ready for a cab or if there is a delay in your phone receiving the text then you are made to feel like an idiot.

Finally, the motorbikes can be late quite often as they get lost, by this I mean 20 minutes late which is not great for a bike as you order them to get the job done quickly.

Also they often lie, once a bike left me at 2pm to deliver a package to an office. I told him that it needed to be there by 4pm and he agreed. Then I get a call saying the office is not answering, of course it is not answering as it is 6:30pm !

They want me to pay to bring the pakage back and then to deliver them again. I am not around to receive it so they say they will keep them overnight. by the way these are very confidential documents and the bike rider has already proven himself a liar.

Then to really polish things off, despite being a regular customer for the last 7 years, they say I must pay the bill for going there, coming back as they delivered it late and then going again. Then as I said I would only pay for it to go there, which anyway had cost me time and money because they had been so rubbish.

Of course you do not deliver to an office after 6pm when anyway you agree it will be there at 4pm.

So they send me to a debt collection company !

I have cancelled my account and am very happily using another firm.

their cabs are still okay and I am happy to use them despite their downsides, but the bikes are buyer beware.

A shame as they used to be the best of the best

I got good service when I used Addison Lee to move house. After just a day’s notice, they sent over a van, which was more than big enough to store everything I needed. And surprisingly, the driver helped us carry our things as well, which was a big plus. All this was for a reasonable price, about 30-40 pounds I recall.

As they all use GPS systems, it was a quick ride to my/our new place, where again, he helped us unload the things and carry them to the door. Carrying stuff up the stairs is a paid-for service, so it wasn’t surprising that he didn’t help us carry it up.

Overall, I’d definitely recommend anyone looking for a van/minicab to call them up.

Absolutely disgusting company. I have used many times before and have rarely had a pleasant driver. I request that they wait in a certain place (which is clearly sign posted and easy to park in) as I don’t like walking far at night being a young lady. This evening I got a call from them, after booking a cab for later in the evening, saying I can’t dictate to drivers where they must wait and because of my unreasonable request I must pay the driver in full before my journey. I explained my reasons for requesting where they park, which is partly due to a disability of mine too which I don’t really feel comfortable discussing with one of their heavy london accented unconcerned call centre workers whos only intent was having a petty argument and taking advantage of the little power his job provides him with. I let the little guy have his moment as he proceeded to shout and throw a barrage of insults at me for over 10 minutes. The pleasant drivers I have had recently have said work is quiet at the moment, which is hardly suprising as the company employs so many numpties and the fact they chargeway more than black cabs doesn’t help. A few years ago the drivers were polite and on time, and if there were problems they apologised and dealt with them efficiently. Now they are best avoided, especially for women due to the sexist drivers who shout at you when you dare complain that they weren’t at the right address and that you have had to walk half way down your road to find them (I very much doubt they’d shout at a man - again, the small person/low wage syndrome again). London buses are more reliable and you are less likely to get hassle on your journey too!

Best cab company I’ve ever used. There’s just something very lovely about their service. You know who’s picking you up. You know when they’re arriving. The cars are nice. You feel safe. If I’m anywhere near a local cab company, I’ll use them, but otherwise they make everything easy. I like the text message they send you to tell you when you car is on its way - you don’t have to stand outside in the freezing cold for twenty minutes. Yes, they are slightly more expensive, but it’s worth paying an extra couple of quid to get to where you need to be and be safe.

I was travelling home after my birthday in a silly pair of sandals last month. It’s was pouring with rain but I had to jump out and get some cash. The cab driver made sure he took me to a supermarket so he could drop me off outside the canopy bit - he didn’t want me to get me feet wet.

Yay Addy Lee!

My experience with Addison Lee has so far be quite good. The operators are always friendly and taxi drivers are often very professional. Out of the many times we used Addison Lee, there was one 1-2 times where the driver hasnt got a clue the location of our destination. It’s not a fatal error. Recommended.

I am very disappointed with Addison Lee service. I booked a taxi for my journey to Heathrow at 4m in the morning. I called twice to confirm, but when I was left to wait for 30 mins. Luckily I allow for sufficient time. Wont use again even if it’s free.

I see these taxis everywhere. They are always fast and reliable. They will even help move you from one place to another and also moving from hotels to airports. Their service is fast to arrive, and I have their number on my phone.

I have had mixed experiences with these guys, true, they do offer a fairly flexible service, with the cars turning up at the location you need and a fixed fare to take you to your destination.
However, on more than one occasion, the car has turned up much much later, or in one instance, not at all, that time I was rather lucky that one of my neighbours happened to be heading out and offered me a ride. Another thing about their drivers, even with their GPS, they seem capable of getting lost in London - expected much more in this respect!

Addison Lee is that taxi firm that Londoners fall in love with and have conversations with each other about how much they adore them.

You feel like you’re in great hands.

And if you’ve got to get your grandma from Brixton to King’s Cross and she doesn’t normally leave her little village in Devon, then the calm of Addison Lee is your only option.

The taxi company to use in London. A bit more than a mini cab, less than a black cab and you get text updates to update you with progress. A must for getting around comfortably.

Is it possible to rank these people zero stars? I’ve never had such an awful customer service experience in my life. After moving to London from the USA earlier this year, we booked Addison Lee several times with good results, and then it all fell apart. I was to be picked up July 26 at night at Heathrow, upon my return from the U.S.. I went to the appointed meeting place (the Hertz counter), and found no driver. There was another Addison Lee driver there waiting for another customer. Luckily, he took pity on me, as neither of my mobile phones were working. He helped me phone my husband, and he then spent about 20 minutes on the phone with various Addison Lee contacts, locating my driver. Meanwhile, his own client (whose name I remember, as it’s the same as a now-deceased former U.S. president) showed up with his wife, and said that they had seen another driver halfway across the terminal. The other clients were also quite kind, and the wife actually started across the terminal to find the other driver. The other driver then showed up (after I had been waiting some 40 minutes), apologising profusely, saying that he had just started working for Addison Lee that week, and wasn’t aware of the pickup point. I chose not to report the incident to Addison Lee at the time, thinking first that they should’ve been aware of it based on the other driver’s multiple phone calls, and secondly not wanting to get my driver into trouble with his new employer. Boy, do I regret that decision now. Some weeks later, my husband finds mysterious charges from Addison Lee on our credit card bill. Some are subsequently explained, but there is one charge that we are told is for WAITING TIME for this driver! We explained, first by e-mail and then by phone to a customer service rep the string of events. She insists that my driver claims that he was at the Hertz counter the entire time, and that they choose to “stand behind their employees.” I then point out that she could prove that I am not lying by (a) speaking with the other driver, (b) checking his mobile phone records (which include both a phone call to my house and multiple calls to Addison Lee) and/or© speaking with the other customer who surely remembers the situation. Both the customer service rep and her supervisor (who claims she’s been in customer service for 10 years), refuse to do any of these things, preferring to implicitly accuse a customer of lying (for a GBP 8.00 charge!), lose our business and retain an employee who has repeatedly lied to them, rather than take care of a repeat customer who was on track to bring them at least hundreds of pounds of revenue per year. I’ve now been told that I can contact the Chairman, but that he doesn’t have e-mail (!?) We choose not to waste our time further with this poorly run firm, and will dispute the unbelievably small charge with our credit card company, and happily take our rather larger amount of business elsewhere. To all who use this company, enjoy your free newspaper, but beware of the customer service team, and definitely report any issues immediately, as you will never be believed ex post facto! These people are the textbook example for how NOT to run a customer service operation!

Addison lee provides a much more cost effective, professional and personal than any other London black cabs can offer.
You can either book online and instantly get a quote or call them, then you are updated by texts when you driver is on his way and when they have arrived. The cars are always clean and looking brand new and there is always a newspaper for you to read. The drivers themselves are always polite and chatty which is a bonus. A main advantage is that they are far cheaper than black cabs except Ive found there roughly the same on airport/rail jobs.
Nevertheless, Choose Addison lee for a friendly, professional and clean! cab in the future.

Also if you have the cash they offer Chauffeur driven services for an extra £10 or so.

These guys have always been absolutely excellent whenever I’ve used them. Never once late, always polite and courteous and very reasonably priced. I love the text message updates I get when the driver is on his/her way so I know how much more Simpsons I can watch. The free newspaper on the seat when you get in is a nice touch.

The fact that one can book online seals the 5th star on this review.

Brilliant taxi and courier service of which I use on a regular basis at work. They are a massive company and have thousands of drivers and couriers. I have been using them at work for a new now and had now mistakes or problems with them. The passenger drivers (taxis) are never late and their system of texting the passenger when the car is on its way and then again when it’s arrived is brilliant. You get the drivers mobile number and car registration which avoids any complications where there are lots of taxis waiting somewhere. This also came in handy when a friend of mine left a wallet in the taxi, in a black cab this would have been gone forever but we could call sa soon as we realised it was gone and the driver found it and I could collect it from the office the next day. Sometime the telephonists can be a bit moody but apart from that a brilliant and highlt recommended service. Other companies have offered cheaper prices for taxi’s and couriers but I dont want to comprimse on the level of service so we are sticking with Addison Lee.

The most reliable mini cabs in the capital they also work out to be reasonably cheap especially compared to black cabs. You can book on the phone or online and receive update texts so you know that your cab is on its way or outside. The drivers know where they are going and are mostly friendly. The only downside is that at busy periods (before Christmas, Saturday nights when its raining etc) there can be a long wait on the phone and for a taxi however they are always honest about the wait or if there are cabs available which makes a welcome change from some operators.

Ive been using Add Lee for many years now, so ive definitely been a regular customer. Apart from maybe 2 occasions where the driver hasn’t turned up, or been late, I’ve had pretty good service. I love the text message to inform you their outside, the spaciousness, and most of the time I get a chatty friendly drivers, and they are also willing to take advice on a better route. I tend to use them for west end to home and vice versa drops. Though airports or local runs tend to be more expensive then your local mini-cab.

Totally agree about Addison Lee. They are very reliable and safe, yet they are so popular nowadays that sometimes it’s hard to book a cab. What I like about them is the decent 4x4 car that picks you up, the text message you receive to tell you the number plate of the car as well as the reasonable price. The prices are usually half of what you’d expect from a metre black cabby, yet the only downside is that Addison Lee might say you have to wait for as long as half an hour or have to ring back in an hour. When you ring them, you can pay cash or card, but paying by card means that you’ll have had to make an account with them and be willing to pay an extra couple of pounds for that extra attention. It’s usually those who have an account with Addison Lee that will get picked up easily, yet I haven’t got an account with them and I still use Addison Lee, even if it means waiting. I’d rather spend half of my pocket on safety and reliability than go home, endangering myself in the cold, with lots of cash to spare.

Probably my favourite taxi company in London. The cabs are always on time and you can book online or over the phone really easily. Most of the taxis come with very professional drivers, bottled water and a free newspaper to read along the way. This may all sound very poshm but the prices are very reasonable. Almost always cheaper than a black cab. Clapham to central London is never more than £10 and an airport transfer from the middle of town will set you back about £50.

Excellent service. Highly recommended.
